Ignition switch. Why make a two step process out of something that one step does just fine.

So far in over 10 years of motorcycling (HD and Japanese), no problems just switching off the ignition.

But I also peel the warning stickers off the air cleaner, and we're getting a new bed delivered tomorrow, so don't tell anyone, but I'm yanking off that mattress tag.

I'm a badass

Welllllllll, only half a bad ***. The tags can be removed by the consumer, it’s only illegal for the manufacturer and retailer to remove them. But surely you knew that lol.

Never have. I forget it's even there. Dropped the bike once running the Twisted Sisters, got it up right, checked damage (minimal), and took time to chill a little. Bike wouldn't start and I couldn't figure why. Double checking, must have hit the KILL while going down, that's the only time I know of that mine has been off (other than just testing switches after bar swaps or harness changes).

I seem to vaguely remember a time if you turned off the motor with the kill switch before the RPM reached its happy place (1K RPM) that the ECM would use that as the default RPM. For instance, say you just started your cold bike and the RPM was ~1.4K and for some reason you immediately turned off the motor using the kill switch. The next time you start the bike, even if it is warm enough that the idle should be at its happy place, it will idle at 1.4K instead. Does this still hold true?

^ I remember reading about that and I think you had to cycle the ignition a few times to reset the high idle symptom. Not sure if it’s still a thing though.
