They wife and I did a day trip on my 15 Ultra Limited with a group that had some very long runs without getting off the bike. Most stops where fuel or water, only 10-15 min
each time we stopped. (which was 2 in the first 250 miles), We both where fine the first 250-300 miles, but the last couple of runs getting back home about killed her and I was not very happy either. I know I road too hard with her not being comfortable, but in order to keep up with the group, had little choice.
We have been planning a trip to the east coast next summer, but she is now reconsidering it. I would very much like to go, but I'm sure there will be a day or two we are running 3 - 400 miles to get where we want to go. Any thoughts on a more comfortable ride other than seat replacement? I'm still running the stock seat, which up till now was just fine. We did Sturgis last year with no issues at all. (We did trailer out)
Anyone have advise on a seat mod? Are the passenger adjustable pegs worth the money. She complains about not being able to adjust her foot position, If a seat is the answer, repack the stock seat or go with a HD replacement (Hammock, Sundowner) or get a Mustang, Ultimate, ect, Don't want to throw lots of $$$ , but a happy wife is a happy rider.
For me the AirHawk 2 is how we roll. It circulates air between your butt and the seat which cuts out the monkey butt. Me or my wife will not ride any distance without it. Well worth the money for us
Another thought...go alone. There are riders who will only go in groups and then there are the rest of us. For my wife and I, one of the advantages is riding at our own pace and starting and ending the day when WE want. I'm also wary of groups until you really get to know the riding style of each rider.
As for a seat recommend, we have the HD heated hammock with about 35,000 miles on it now. 2014 FLHTK

I guess your towing vehicle is the more comfortable ride you're looking for. Some people enjoy riding anywhere anytime and some people enjoy riding in small samples. And by the way, if you're in a group ride and you are hurting or uncomfortable then get out of the group and let them go on. It's ok and safer to do that.

Ride without a group..and if the wife still hurts stretch the stops out longer...sometimes we make a schedule to tight ,figure another day into your trip and just slow it down some..40k+ on my factory seat and it still works for me

Exactly correct, Sir, and well said!
Never did a "group ride" myself. Probably never will.
I personally have no interest whatsoever in having somebody else dictate how, when, where, or if I ride.
Get a Russell Daylong and you’ll be more than happy. My wife and I went on a trip like yours with the local hog chapter. We had a Mustang Super Touring on the Limited. We loved the ride...our butts..not so much. We got one of these and now it’s no more complaints.
