Do they top off your oil and fill the blinker fluid too?

Not trying to be a smart ***, but when you guys are saying that the attendant runs your card, don't you have to give that kid your PIN or zip code for the transaction to process? Or does he do part of the process and then you put in your PIN and then he asks you what grade you want and finishes it up, hands you the handle so you can you can pump the fuel? And then who puts the handle back, him or yourself? Or does he take you card inside and run it in there and comes back out to hand you the gas nozzle? Do you have to sign the receipt? I only got gas in Oregon 3-4 times and never had any of that. And I'm not giving my PIN or zip code to anyone.

Typically the gas pumps themselves have the card reader built-in. so there is no need to head inside a building. In NJ it varies. In many stations you do not need to enter any type of security code. I'm guessing that's due to the station having the attendants. Some stations do require a code. The attendant will ask you for the zip code. A disadvantage of purchasing gas in NJ is that many stations are closed in the late evenings, since there isn't any attendant to work the shift. If the state allowed one to pump your own gas, these stations could leave the pumps on all night.
BTW: I do pump my own gas for my motorcycle in NJ. Never been an issue.

SPRINGFIELD, Illinois-- A new bill in Illinois would ban you from pumping your own gas.
Don't know the reason..

I suspect it's because they want a professional handling the pump, to reduce spills.............

Some stupid elected official came up with this idea. People are already saying it will raise the price of gas.

Not good with links but it appears they have amended this to being customer choice on filling your own or attendant doing it! CRAZY *** ILLINOIS!!

The stated reason for the Oregon law is safety, hence the exemption for diesels where you don't have the flammability issue. Not really sure how that justifies the motorcycle exemption, it's just a weird law IMHO.
