Default "Required" button for GTS Stereo Upgrade

I am considering buying the Boom! Box GTS for my 2015 Street Glide Special. I have lighted switch controls installed on my bike.

On the web page it states the following: "In the box: Radio, required hand control insert, GPS antenna, installation instructions".

Do any of you know if this "button" will work with the lighted switches? If not...I will just leave this button off.

H-Town - thanks, great question. I was at the dealership today and am planning to order the new radio. Like you, I have the lighted switches.

I also asked my dealer to confirm that the current XM module will work with the new radio. Service says the heard it will - but have yet conformed.

ive heard conflicting answers on the XM module. I don’t have one at the moment so it doesn’t affect me....yet.

The switch button is for the right turn signal/info button. It re-labels the switch as right turn signal/return to previous screen button. The info button is reassigned to the previous screen function. The info screen access is now available by holding the left joystick in (depressed) for 3 seconds which brings up a new menu that allows the right joystick to select the info screen(s) - there are 3 info screens available selectable by left/right scrolling with the right joystick.

Don't know about working with lighted controls; my right control isn't lighted.

It will work with the GTS, lit or not... its just a cap that replaces the cap on the "Info" switch with a "Back Arrow" because the stereo see it as a different input, like Hammz explained... thats it. The one that comes with the GTS is not the "lit" version, but you can use the one that comes in the box and it will function just fine, except its not lit. You don't "have" to change it even, it will work with either cap... but its in the box and is simple to change it out, so change it so its properly "labeled". I have lit controls also, so I bought a cap for lit controls that "glow" at night like the rest of the switches, it is HD part number 71500484 it was like $15.

Also, the Sirius module out of my GT head unit was purchased 3-7-2017 and is HD part number 76000351, it is working just fine in the GTS head unit I installed last fall. Just slid it right out of the GT head unit, and it slid right into the GTS head unit. I did my own install and I have an amp, so once the dealer did the programming/authorizing on the GTS head unit using DigitalTech, the satellite radio was playing without having to call them at all... everything was/is functioning (traffic, weather, music, etc).

I also used the same USB cable that was on the GT head unit with the new GTS head unit and have not had any issue with doing software updates, using the phone, playing music from phone, or playing music from the flash stick I usually leave plugged into it with 30gigs of music on it.

It will NOT light up...it's solid on the inside, and not the transparent interior that the rest of the switches use to allow the light output.

I put the regular "back" switchcap on my bike for now because the lighted version of the cap is on backorder by Harley. The lighted version of this cap is PN: 71500484. I found it in the install instructions of the latest version of the lighted switch kit.

I ordered PN: 71500484 through New Castle's site on May 10th. On the 12th of May, they emailed me to let me know the keycap was backordered with an expected 16JUN20 release (I see at least four orders looking for this part on New Castle's customer special order page) .

Meanwhile, the non-lighted version of the cap (with the back arrow instead of the Info "i" icon) snaps right in place (remove the face of the switch housing, take a pick and pop the turn signal switch cover off, snap the new cover in place) and until it's dark, it's indistinguishable from the other switchcaps. It is kind of weird to see the big unlit section on the right hand side of the switches though: no turn arrow or back arrow is visible! However, leaving the stock "i" key on your lighted switches won't be a problem- just remember that the only function of the key is to go back in menus. It will no longer pull up the bike info page.

Not trying to hijack the thread but for those that have made the upgrade do you feel it was worth the money and what do you like best about it over the GT?

Thanks
