The fans come on when coolant temps reach about 235°F. Engines can get WAY hotter than that before problems occur, the issue with the Rushmore bikes is the channel around the exhaust valve, as well as the higher compression and related tune. I wouldn't worry as long as you don't idle for extended periods - many of us (myself included) have ridden them home when the pump fails - sometimes hundreds of miles.

On the PowerVision, you'll see coolant temps at ambient temperatures since the pump isn't moving anymore. Keep eye on the head temps. I found riding 50-55 MPH kept the head temps at bay...anything slower or faster brought the temps up rapidly. I cannot remember what the head temps were now (been a few years) ...

Just had to have my pump replaced on my second 2015. Right at 55k so I knew it was only a matter of time. It was high prices but I'm in Sturgis 700 miles from home and temps are mid 90s . Wasn't going to take a chance going into limp mode in the middle of nowhere.

Doesn't go into limp mode. Mine went 800 miles from home (in a different country) in 110 degree heat, no choice but to ride it all the way home, and it did so with no problems.

55,000 miles seems to be the common mileage. My buddy's 15 CVO and my 16 Limited both went bad at just over 55,000mi.
