Looking at some used bikes the other day and the front forks on just about all of them looked terrible. Didn't matter if they were silver or black. Pitted, rock chipped, and just ugly. I'm very particular about the appearance of my bike so it just made me wonder if people don't care, don't notice, or what.
To prevent this, the first thing I do to my bikes is PPF on the front forks. I use Cruz Armor brand because they're pre-cut. It's an easy 10 minute install in the garage. This keeps the forks looking brand new for as long as I own the bike.
Second is the comfort mods-- seat, bars, shield, grips, backrest, highway pegs, etc. Finally, the Stage 1 stuff to increase the volume.
What about you? What's the first thing you have to do to your bike when you get it home (or sometimes even before it leaves the dealership)?
Edit -- Probably should have posted this in General Harley Chat. Sorry.
Man, I feel you on this. I'm looking at used Road Glides right now and even the 2021's and 2022's with less than 2,000 miles have all kinds of blemishes. I'm more particular about paint, though. There is ZERO excuse for swirl marks all over the paint. I guess people don't know how to clean a bike properly!
My first mod was a passenger backrest, followed very closely by a driver backrest and highway pegs.

.
Mine were horrible after only 5K miles. I bought slightly used forks that were perfect off of a member here with Ohlins NiX cartridges, and did the Cruz Armor just like you. That powdercoat from the factory is weak
I use that 3M PPF on my truck, the wife's Denali Acadia, etc been using it for years. What I have NOT done is put it on my fairing. I just love the paint on my bike and don't want to do that...yet
