No clue? The quickest, most likely. Any recommendations?
I've been all three ways up there from Sturgis. 16 through Buffalo and 10 slip is a great ride. The other ways are more time on i-90 maybe you can go up there one way and come back on the other. Have fun it's a great ride.
For all of you guys going to Sturgis and riding the BlackHills in August make sure to ride Highway 16 and check out the "backside" of Mount Rushmore. It's spectacular.
8 of us (4 couples) are going. We are shipping the bikes and flying to Rapid City. One couple was there a few years ago, but the rest of us have never been.
We rented a house in Lead. Can't wait to so some riding and see the spectacular scenery!
I've looked on trusty Google Maps. To me, it's an easy direct highway route, but about 5-6 hrs, meaning even leaving from Sturgis pre-dawn, it'd require an overnight stay, plus traffic...etc...so for me, I'll make it a separate trip next year... It looks to be too much in the time we have for this year.
Its definitely not a day ride. Add in you need a place to stay and its summer. You would need to reserve something now or soon.
There is so much to see over that way it warrants its own trip/ride.
Stugis has plenty to see and do and thats without killing time downtown. You will enjoy it. Ride fast!
Heading up on the 3rd, staying at Kickstands with full hookups, taking the Geezerglide in the toy-hauler. I tried convincing the wife to drive the truck/trailer so I could ride separately but she said no.
We're staying 'till the 12th and this will be my 2nd trip, first time was solo (yes I rode) but it was only 2 nights & I didn't get to do much riding. Looking forward to this being a longer trip and doing the big stuff like Custer, Rushmore, Badlands, Spearfish, Wall Drug, etc. Last time I only got to do Iron Mountain/Needles and I stayed at the chip so I got to see Kid Rock. The Chip was fun but with the wife, she wanted a more "chill" experience. Looking forward to seeing how Kickstands works out.
