Its definitely not a day ride. Add in you need a place to stay and its summer. You would need to reserve something now or soon.
There is so much to see over that way it warrants its own trip/ride.

correct. Thatll be for next year I think. Tour northern New Mexico where I spent many years of my life, Colorado and up to Yellowstone to see the Tetons. Im grew up reading Louis Lamour westerns so Im not missing Hickoks gravesite this year. Were staying in Spearfish this time. Weve been staying in Custer. Ill be on a red (sorry its a Harley so its magical red sunglo or something like that) SGS with Mississippi tags. Hopefully run into one of yall/youse guys.

The National Park Service runs tours through an old Minute Man Missile Silo off I-90. It's worth checking out while in the area. https://www.nps.gov/mimi/index.htm For people with National Park Passes there's several places in the area that allow these.
On I-90 there are lots of signs for Firehouse Brewing Company in Rapid City. For people who check out the Firehouse, Skyline Drive is nearby which gives a great view of Rapid City.
I'm envious of anyone riding this area for the first time, so many great rides.
