Wow! As long as this forum has been around, I don't believe this subject has ever been talked about before. Thanks for bringing it up, OP!

I have about 5 of them that I have removed over the years sitting on my dead soldier shelf along with the fork reflectors. Oh, don't forget the little seat strap.

My first mod to my '14 TK was to remove the heel shifter and install a spacer to extend the toe shifter. I had a heel and toe shifter on my 2000 Yamaha Royal Star Venture and it worked great; lots of room between the front and rear pegs and the rear was a flat spoon instead of a round peg. The Harley unit is set up for size 8 shoes.

Tried it a few times......hate it!!
I find it really awkward.....I gotta change foot placement to engage it.
Is it just me?
Or is it as annoying as I've found it?
Gonna remove it when I get a second......just curious about you other folks.
Tx!
Until the moco started doing me the favor of not including the heel shifter, I took the 10 seconds to remove it when I got a new bike. Useless garbage.

I like the old style toe/heel on my '82 Electraglide, it's a one-piece and fairly short... would never get rid of it. Now, the two-piece that came on my '21 CVO Ultra Limited is a different story. I tried to like it but couldn't; it's too long and just too different than what I had been using for 40 years. I removed the heel shift and got a toe peg extender (because I have huge feet - size 15 boots) as I needed the extra length to get my toe under the shifter. I got used to toe shifting a lot quicker than I thought I would.

I put on long shift levers and brake pedal to accomodate my size 14s.

And now, with 19 inch Cyclesmith banana boards, I use a stealth rear shifter so I can use all of the board!

It's definitely a preference thing as I used to hate them and took them off every bike I bought until I found it's literally incredible for getting into neutral. I use an extended rear lever now to get a little room back. Working well.

I like mine, don't like scuffing or wearing holes in the toes of my shoes and boots. Typically they are way too high from the factory, I re-set mine so it would just contact the foot board as the transmission popped into the next gear. I hope that also prevents over stressing the linkage should I hit a big bump just as I shift. IN Oklahoma they pave the roads with the smooth side down.

This is another one of those debates. Topic me a little, but know I like it. Especially with big work boots.

If you think it is to much movement now, what do you think it will be like with just the toe, especially with floorboards?

I tend to think some remove it just to be stuborn.
