I got my pants cuff caught on the heel shifter and that was all I needed to ditch the heel shifter.
Never done that with a stock one. I have done it with extended operating kickstand. After about 20 years, I put extended on my bikes, not for shifting, but so my foot could further back.
Curious do you guys adjust the front up high, or where thin boots? I get it pegs, but it just seems weird with a board under the shifter. Regardless either one you are swinging your foot around, it is just what you prefer. Do you want to lift toes, or lift heal?
It is funny this one of those topics, that isn't ever going a way.
One of the reasons I like the heel shifter is because I can adjust the toe shifter down. I don't need to get my 13 boot toe under it for upshifts. With the extended heel lever I have 100% access to the footboards with no lever interference.

I adjust the toe shifter this way, take off boot/put on floor board adj lever until it just touches,. I've been doing it this way since my moto X days.
I thought I could do without it. I was going to take the one off of my 16 when I traded for the 20, which was the first year HD left them off. But I didn't and had to buy one later.
I found out within a few days on the 20 I had to have one and of course the dealer had one in stock. I use it more for bumping it into neutral than shifting.
