Hi All,
Really interested in a Saddleman Road Sofa with a backrest. Everyone has them for about the same price. If you order from Saddleman direct your paying $875 with colored stitching plus California sales tax. About $950 +/-
Are there any other extended reach seats out there with a backrest? Thanks in advance 🤙🤙
Hey @92evo
Yes, Mustang seats are another reach seat manufacturer. Check out all the resellers who stock the Saddleman / Mustang seats. I own both with a backrest and prefer the Saddleman Road Sofa. Another alternative is to check HDForums classifieds, and you might find a used one for sale. Good luck.
I bought the Mustang extended reach with heating. It is well made and the heat works almost too well, "but" it's not a comfortable as the stock seat. Hoping I get used to it or it just needs breaking in. The backrest is way superior to Harley.
I just purchased a Mustang Super touring seat with backrest in extended reach. I went the facebook marketplace route and found a seat that was basically brand new and paid half the price of new.
Just a heads up on the Saddleman, don't leave it parked in the sun for a long period the gel pad inside gets VERY HOT and is very uncomfortable for a long time afterwords.
I'm 6' w/ 34" inseam. I'm on a '22 RG and had tried the Mustang Supertour Deluxe (which is going on sale). Great seat, but it's listed as being 1.75" more rearward than stock. While the seat was very comfortable and supportive, and I liked sitting a smidge taller than an the height of an Ultra seat (which is about 1" taller than the standard RG/RGS seat), I'd have to really stretch back to get support from the lumbar and backrest and it's wide.
The RS ER is listed as being 2" further back from stock, and from comparison photos of pics comparing an Ultra, Mustang Supertour Deluxe and HD Sundowner, the RS ER had the highest seat height. It was also mentioned that the seat doesn't compress like an HD seat, so you generally sit higher.....not a good or bad thing, just an observation. It's also relatively narrow at the tip of the seat. If you're tall with long legs, I'd think the RS ER would serve you well.
Regarding the gel.... I've researched the RS a good amount in my quest of blissful comfort while riding. I like, and have read it's true, of Saddlemen's claim of the seat helping absorb hits/jolts from road imperfections. I've also read on more than one occasion that the seat gets very hot in direct sunlight and very cold in cold weather due to the gel, and also taking quite a while for the temperature extremes to change to ambient temps. I've called Saddlemen and asked about a non gel padded RS, and they will do it. However, it will be treated as a custom seat which is non returnable.
If all this works for you, that's a good price on the seat....go for it.
