This thread gives me hope that I'm not crazy for wanting to go way high on my bars. I have a '23 Ulta limited with stock bars atm. I want something higher because my shoulder blades start to hurt on the over 200 mile rides. I'm really considering a set of 10" bars to stay behind the fairing. I do ride to work in as cold at 25° F mornings and would hate to have my hands over the fairing. 12" looks to be right on the edge of being too high. I'm 6'4" with a 34" inseam and want to stay with 10" bars. My riding buddies think I'm crazy because of the trend to go taller.

Those are Yaffe's Monkey Sport bars. They have 6" of rise and 9" of pull back. I have them on my 2019 RG. Love them!

i have 10s on my ultra and they put my knuckles about even with the top of the fairing. I have a 33" inseam but im only 6ft1 and i dont have to move my legs anymore on tight turns. 10s would be an improvement over stock for you, but i think youd really appreciate a little taller if you could talk yourself into it.

I'd ridden a bat wing over 25 years and always had a softail something sitting beside it. In December of 2023 I bought a Road Glide. I ride year round, unless it's iced over. Yeah, my hands get cold, but not any colder than on the bat wing.I enjoy the open feel of the Road Glide **** pit and find that it handles better in all conditions. I will eventually ride a softail full time, but won't be going back to the bat wing. Just my .02.

"Yeah, my hands get cold, but not any colder than on the bat wing." That is 100 % false. My batwing with my OEM bars, hands behind the fairing out of the wind are 100% warmer in the cold than yours. How couldn't they be they are out of the wind and the designers made it this way for a purpose. There is literally no air movement on my hands even at highways speeds. If I put extended bars on mine, then obviously your statement is correct, how couldn't it be as both our hands are in the wind then. I'm a Canadian rider and can tell you I definitely ride in colder weather than you and have installed grip warmers and my hands need that in the cold but it's doable. If I hand extended bars? no way hands would freeze up in cold climate riding. Just a point, not jumping on you, but you have to qualify something to be factual.

My $0.02. I have a 2015 Ultra Limited and the 2013 Honda version of the current Road Glide (Goldwing). I've got 40K miles on this Harley and 65K on this Goldwing. I'm 6'0". The only things I changed on the Ultra Limited are: The Bars to get a less wheelbarrow shape for my wrists and added a Back Rest to deal with some spinal issues. (FWIW, it's a bitch getting old.) On the Goldwing I had to: Lower the Foot Pegs, add a Backrest and raise the Bars. Both bikes give pretty good protection from the elements. I wear gloves of one sort or another 24/7/365. Both bikes have heated grips. I don't have an issue with uncomfortable hands on either bike. About the only comfort difference (for me) between the two is that at temperatures over ~85*F I'd rather be riding the Ultra Limited. When it gets warm here in the desert Southwest the Ultra Limited is the better choice. Cold/Wet and the Goldwing is slightly preferred. Both bikes are far more similar than different when it comes to riding comfort in all sorts of weather. Oh, and I don't care for how a Road Glide Fairing looks.
