I had a problem updating fom the stick also. Then I got a reply from FlyingBear and d-streetglidr and got me to unzip the files to my flash drive, that's what I was'nt doing. The files on my flash drive are: armle, bin, etc,ETFSUpdates, lib, mnt, sbin, usr. I reformatted my 8gb Verbatim stick. Put it in the bikes usb port and away it went. I just installed the siren 2 with the pager (piece of cake),and now I can rest a little bit better, when away from the bike. Thanks again.
I haven't updated mine yet, but I've noticed twice now that my phone didn't sync with the head unit. I went to make a call and it said no device. It may just be my phone. It's a Droid DNA. Stopping and turning the bike off and back on fixed it both times. The ability to make and receive calls is pretty slick and works a lot better for sound quality than I had expected. Completely surprised to be able to hold a conversation while cruising down the interstate at 70mph.
finally got it to download, our I should say my wife did she used a different drive and redownloaded the file from Harley and got it to go.
Thanks for the help

Wow! So it seems to work if you put the .iso file on the flash drive OR if you unpack the .iso contents onto your flash drive. Neat. That file structure is unique to the Unix and Linux family of operating systems, which isn't a surprise: most embedded systems run Linux these days. Sooner or later some enterprising hacker will find a way to "root" the head unit and get access to all kinds of interesting data. No actual value to that, just geeking out.
Now, about the nav database: don't you folks think that HD should ship the 'bike with the current database, versus one several months old? When you buy a new car, e.g. a BMW, the dealer gives you the current database DVD. I really think that HD should give us one free redemption of the current database. Mine is particularly annoying me, because I live near the new 540 highway, and the GPS doesn't know about it.
My mistake on the nav database. It looks as if the most recent version is from the end of 2012 (which isn't very impressive, but so it goes). So there's no more current version out yet than what ships with the 'bike.
Still, I'm not super-impressed with the $150 required for updates....
check with your dealer not sure if all dealers are doing this or if it is because of my ESP or what but my dealer told me they will update my maps every time a new one comes out for free
Let me preface my statement by stating I currently own 4 Harleys. I am not a HD basher. I love mine.
BUT they are put together like ****. My '13 CVO has been in the shop 3 times for warranty issues. Its a damn shame they dont have better quality controls.
I updated mine last night had not had any issues with the old version. Today I was listening to music on usb stick, when all of sudden it switched to WB nothing going on with weather here. Then I switched to Sirius and it locked up completely it was still playing music, but couldn't do anything. When the song changed it didn't update. When I got to work rebooted and is working again. See what happens on the way home.
