As the guinea pig that I am, I purchased a 2014 limited. The automatic speed/volume feature of the stereo does not work. In working with the dealer, they had me update the head unit software, which I did and it still did not solve the problem.
They informed me of two other problems with the unit, one is the display goes blank with no user intervention, and another is the navigation activates also with no user intervention.
For those of you who actually have a 2014 with the advanced head unit, I would like to hear of your experiences or problems with it. And the fixes you did to remedy the problems.
The software update took me all but 5 minutes and is easily done. If you want to do this the update can be found at the following link:
I synced my radio to my phone via bluetooth. Works great, but when the gps is running in the backround it cuts the song out. Probably because its giving you the directions turn by turn? The auto volume does not work for me either? Thanks for the info on the new update. I'll download it also. 2014 Flhtk charcoal gray pearl/black.
Did you guys really think the new Touchscreen / bluetooth / Gps unit would be trouble free considering the last radio (Harman Kardon) that Harley used for 7 years was never perfected and always had issues, requiring replacement or to be sent to Iron Cross...?
Still buggy post update. Riding down the road listening to music via phone (via bluetooth). Phone rings and as expected the music stops when phone rings. I reject the phone call and all of a sudden the radio starts playing at a very high volume. Volume switch nor radio power switch will work. I pull over, turn off the motor and restart bike. Back to normal.
The problems I've had with the radio (music stopping) are always related to listen to music/XM Radio/Pandora through my phone and receiving a phone call.
From: South Carolina-First to secede and hopefully the next.
Except for the auto volume control, no problems.
Ghostrider, you're correct about the nav cutting out the volume. You can increase/decrease the nav turn by turn volume by increasing the volume when it's giving directions, ie when your music volume cuts out.
