Default Polished fork lowers

I know that chrome fork lowers is the way to go but here north of the border, it's well over $1,200.00 installed. I saw a few bikes with polished fork lowers (not FLHs). I read enough about the process to know how to do it but my question is, is it worth the effort? Polishing aluminium makes a huge difference on weathered lowers but these are new and I am not sure if the difference will be noticeable enough. Any thoughs?

IMHO there is a big difference. Just did my SGS and even though the polished aluminum was new, huge difference.

Not the best picture but!!

Yes you can polish them while on your bike. Sorry, but you can't do a good job while on your bike. Take them off & have a plating/polishing shop do them & they'll really look good. Good Luck.

Check e-bay for a second set, there are a bunch of take offs under $300 CDN on there... I too am in Ottawa and am thinking of getting a set powder coated.

If you have the tools and know how you most certainly can do a good job on the bike... Then again, I have the tools and experience...

Does Harley put a clear coat on the alum forks that has to be removed first?

They are most probably hard anodized, the old EZ Off used to work not the new environmentally friendly stuff doesn't work nor do the newer drain cleaners. I have a 5 gallon can of Lye, it takes all the anodizing off without a problem. if I decide to do mine it'll be a project for next winter.
