While riding this weekend I received the Icon on my 6.5 system (FLHXS-2014) that I had a TXT message.
Using the touch screen I navigated to COMM->IPHONE->Messages->Inbox-> and selected the TXT message.

The message was read to me through my headset THEN a screen popped up saying "This function is not available while in motion".

It worked fine for me.

My questions:
Has anyone else had this experience and if so, has this option remained after upgrading the firmware?

My job requires me to be available 24X7X365 (Law Enforcement Support) and our process is to send group TXT (which i receive) when we have system issues impacting LE. I don't want to lose this option!!

I have the latest firmware, and my bike did the same exact thing this weekend. After it read the message that same screen popped up.

I am thinking that maybe it won't let you read the text but only listen to it.

 

Same here on the 4.3. It works so its just a minor annoyance.

This is exactly it. My Ford does the same thing. Won't let you read it while moving, but it will read it to you. I have the latest firmware and this works beautifully for me!

 

While it could have been programed more elegantly it seems it is an enforced safety measure.

 

Are any of you guys using an iPhone 5s? I can't get mine to read any texts.

 

Iphone 5s wont let 3rd party read txts.. Hopefully Apple will address this in the future.. It will try to sync your sms messages but gives you an error msg after a few minutes.. Ive asked around and the word on the street is that ots an Iphone issue...

 

I have an iPhone 5s, connected via BT, works fine. The 6.5 system will speak texts and display if stopped, while in motion the system will speak the texts but I cannot read them. I have the latest firmware on the 6.5.

It will not auto reply, that is the only issue or feature that does not work AFAIK, and that is unique to the Apple iPhone with the 6.5 system.

 

I have an iPhone 5s, the system reads texts just fine for me and for several others based on the posts. The known common feature is It won't auto reply to msgs received, from reading this forum, the auto reply is the only common issue among iPhone users that doesn't work on the 6.5 system.

 

I have a 4s and i get the text icon on my 4.3" screen, how do i get it to read me the text?
