Default Security not arming

I walked out to my garage tonight to move my bike. I swung my leg over, fired her up and moved her around the garage. I realized I didn't have my fob with me. How could I have started the bike without it seeing the fob? They were in the house and should be far out of range. I was reading the manual and it sounded like it could only be temporarily disarmed. I have no indicator flashing on the gauge and nothing when bike goes through bulb check. Anybody else have any issues?

When I picked up My bike They had not set up the security system either.Thought there was a defect until I read the owner's manual and setup the 5 digit code.
There was no security lamp until code was entered and security activated.Dealer usually sets this up and puts in code like 12345.

I had an issue where the security system was never setup by the dealer. They transferred the bike from another dealer and it wasn't setup. Mine never worked at all before that though. I don't know if that is your issue.

Yah mine has never worked either apparently. Mine was a dealer trade as well. I thought I setup the PIN maybe I screwed the procedure up then.

Mine was not enabled when I got the bike. I took it to my local dealer to have them enable the security system and they found that 2 of the wires in the diagnostic port (data link connector) were in the wrong pin positions. After the fixed the wiring they were able to enable the security and they also set my pin. I called the dealer that I purchased the bike from and they stated that they had gotten the bike from another dealer who had charged them for PDI. Apparently neither dealer did the PDI completely.
