Just PayPal a guy in here for his HD 7" Wind Splitter. Figure I'll give that a try first.

If you choose a windshield based on the opinion and/or 'measurements' of others, it seems to me it's still a crap-shoot. You almost have to try them out to see how they work for your particular situation.

That said, the 6.5" Klockworks and the 7" Harley Windsplitter are real close to being the same size. I've had them both (on different bikes). My experience was, they both work about the same, lots better than the stock 4" Harley's putting on the SG's this year. But I still got some buffeting when going into a stiff wind at freeway speeds.

Right now I have a windshield on the bike that tops out just about in line with the tip of my nose. It's marginally better for me (a noticeable amount of buffet reduction) than either of the shorter 'recurved' windshields. My impression is those of us who are bitching about buffeting are riding Street Glides for the most part. I don't recall seeing many guys riding dressers complaining. But maybe I'm not paying attention.

I've come to the conclusion, rightly or not, that the SG with its shorter windshields is just going to give you some buffeting unless you go to a tall/wide windshield like you'll typically see on an Ultra or Electra glide dresser.

Frankly, if I always rode at 60 MPH or less, I'd never get ANY buffeting, or very damn little. But who rides at 60 or less all the time?

Alan

I got the LRS 7" ultra, although it's not as sleek looking as the HD windsplitter or Klock Werks, it does a very good job as opposed to the stock shield. The best thing about is the price, can't go wrong with LRS.

Your photos are reason enough for me to give the LRS Ultra a try! Nice work!
