Completely subjective item. I went taller from my stock 10" to a LRS 12" and am very happy. Best to look around and possibly try dealer demo shields and if possible, sit on some other's bikes, see what they have and decide what's best for you. No one can really pick what you need. I can only attest to the quality and positive experience I've had dealing with LRS shields, see pic of my etched 12" Ultra Elite in light tint. You'll settle in on the perfect one with a little time and research.

As stated before, there are several companies that make recurve shields. The OEM Harley is a 10" shield. In general, a recurve shield will give you the same protection as a standard shield that is 2" higher. So you can get the same wind protection from an 8" recurve. I went with the Freedom Shield because it is the only one that is thicker than stock (3/16" vs. 1/8"). I suppose the only reason not to go with the Freedom Shield is that one may prefer the shape of some of the other brands like LRS (Long Ride Shields). Most of the aftermarket shields are in the $100 price range.

5' 10" and I laos look way over the stock shield

I bout the 10 inch HD Wind splitter and put in on before a 1300 mile roundtrip to DC for Rolling Thunder. I look way over it. I am one of those guys with short legs and long torso. I am 6 foot tall but with the torso of someone 6'4. I hate the windsplitter. The air hits my helmet right over my eyes and isn't good for the wife either. Looks like its the tallboy HD windshield or a tall Clearview or LRS for me.

I paid for a Clearview 10 days ago and I received an email this morning advising me it is about to start production. If I had know it would take this long to think about making it I would have looked elsewhere. I would have expected screens to be sold from stock and manufactured to replace sold ones.

When I'm riding, especially at night, it seems like I'm always choosing between looking through the windshield for sand on the road or looking over the windshield to see what's out in front of me. Does anyone have any recommendations on replacement windshield? I'm looking for input for sizes and styles of windshields. Thank you.
I'm on my 4th shield. LOL.

The stock 10" was too high for me. I went to an HD 7". That was pretty good but I wanted to try a recurve to see if I could go lower and get the same or better wind protection as the 7".

I ordered a CeeBailey's 7". It was the same height as the HD 7" and moved the wind well over my helmet. I returned it and they made it 1" shorter (6").

It's now perfect for me. The wind just grazes the top of my helmet. The quiet envelope is wider than the HD 7". It's so low, I can see over it like it's not even there AND it looks cool too!

I don't believe Clearview stocks any shields.

The shield is quite a bit thicker than the stock HD shields. I haven't really noticed any unsightly gap.

The clearview took about a month from payment to receiving it. Factor it in to your choice, had I known I would have bought something else. I bought the medium and it works better than stock but it still buffets a bit.
