I have a Street Glide standard and with the air shocks and my back is killing me with the sharp jolts over the road imperfections, regardless of air pressure settings. It is like the shocks are rigid; anyway, I ordered a set of premium hand adjustable shocks and I feel no difference. I set the preload as per the manual and there is no difference. I am 210 and set it at 2 turns and in the middle of the ride backed it off 1/2 of a turn. It just doesn't feel that the rear is moving. Should I back it off all the way or? Any suggestions are appreciated.
I was gripping about the stiffness of the shocks on my SGS and was told to back them ALL the way off, which helped just a bit but it's still rough. I'm at 220. Maybe an oil change?
Doesn't sound right guys. I have the premiums and my ride is great. The best way to do it is ride and adjust by feel. I remember when I have the stock air system it was pretty much worthless. My new bike SGS with the premium rears is night and day difference and yours should be too. Have it looked at.
I am getting Race Tech to make me some rear shocks. They are fully adjustable and you have even adjust the ride height. I am getting a bike suspension expert to set it up. GMD ATL This guy lives and breaths motorcycle suspension.

im 170 2 turns way to stiff. back it off all the way I don't mind a little bit of a stiff ride myself and I am at one turn.
I thought mine smoothed out quite nicely after about 1000 miles or so. I weight 185 and have the setting backed off all the way. Rode with my wife on the back yesterday and forgot to adjust the preload for the extra weight and could really tell the difference. Only bottomed out 1 time though going over a bridge. Give them a little more time before you give up on them....
