Installing monkey bars this weekend, got it all together and found the throttle unresponsive. Bars back off, checking connections, found the green plug (inside the bars) had been damaged and pulled apart. I tried to put it back together, got some response, but also got repeated codes for "tgs open" and "tps not correlated", obviously not good enough.
Now I will go buy a new twist grip sensor and the harness it runs to, hoping that will fix it.
In the meantime, can someone tell me why the Harley gods put this plug INSIDE the bars!?
If the bike is a '14 do NOT cut and splice anything on the controls with Canbus. Obviously you did that yanking the wires thru the bars. I've done 3 of them and had no issue with the green plug if done carefully. I did however give the green plug additional strength by slipping a piece of shrink tube over the plug when attached.
Local parts guy is telling me now that I cant get the harness that the twist grip plugs into- the other side of the green plug. He has the extended tgs in stock, but says the other side has to be put together with special tools!?
Do I now need them to come pick up my bike,,, for one harness?
I've done two sets of Z bars with no special tools. I'm not recommending removing the green harness, but I did - one wire at a time since there are two sets of red white and black.

BINGO! YAHTZEE! Give this guy a medal! Really though, thats what I did also. With a little WD40 to slick things up. Just installed 12" MBB a few days ago. No issues here. DO MORE PUSHING THAN PULLING.
EDIT: IF you're going to order a new TBW altogether, then DO get the Screaming Eagle Version. It DOES NOT have the green plug.

Are you saying that you spliced and eliminated the green plug on a '14 (canbus) system? Without problems?
I probably might as well try since I've already ruined the connector.
Whathever you do... take notes and pictures of everything you intend to remove or cut or displace before you start.
Electrical can become a nightmare very quickly!
