Had a chip or bubble in the paint on one of the bag lids. Dealer replaced, no hassle.

Washing the bike the other day and felt what I thought to be bug crap under the cloth. Upon closer inspection I found what looked like a rock chip!! Turns out the clear coat is peeling!!
Next day I stopped at the dealership(Rough Rider HD, Mandan). Service manager took a look, stepped onto his office, returned in about a minute. Said he had ordered a new outer shell for the fairing! Can't beat a deal like that!
Any body else have paint issues?

From my limited experience (two Harley's in the last 13 years), that is an abnormality. Both bike's I've owned had the best paint of any vehicle I've ever owned by a long shot. That includes BMW, Kawasaki and Suzuki bikes, BMW, Audi, VW, Toyota, GMC, and Ford cars/trucks. The BMW's both had horrible, orange peel, thin, dull paint that chipped by looking at it. The Harley paint is usually flawless, deep and gorgeous.
I noticed my paint was kinda soft when I first brought it home judging from a finger nail scratch I put in it. I think the paint takes a little time to fully cure like maybe a month or so a fully cured harder finish.
Now may paint seems a little harder to the touch. Maybe the paint guys can confirm this. My bike was one month from manufacture when I first owned it.
My Amber Whiskey SG seems to chip very very easy. I made a thread about it not long ago.
I agree my other Harleys were tough as nails and this one seems to chip real easy. got three good size chips and only 5000 mi and about 3 mos of real riding(1 mo last fall about 2mos this year after long cold winter) makes me sick, but the bike runs awesome. Can only imagine what it'll look like this fall
