Thoughts/opinions on Thrashin' Supply mini-floorboards vs. Kuryakyn Hex folding floorboards? Or is there another more popular alternative?
I originally ordered the Thrashing Supply floorboards. They came without instructions, so I emailed them asking for a copy (no: it's not rocket science to figure them out, but I like to understand how the manufacturer thinks you should do it). They never replied so I decided to return them. But from what I could see they're a bit fiddly: setting their angle means working with a small inset that didn't inspire confidence they'd stay in place. So, I also suspect it would be a pain to align the floorboards at the same angle on both sides of the bike. Finally, no rubber to absorb vibration.
I ended up ordering the Kuryakyn Minis and put them on today. You need to get the splined footpeg mounts also, but the splines make aligning the two sides easier. I set them up so for my feet, and raised the shifter lever one notch (I still need to adjust the rear brake). The install was pretty simple, and I'm confident the floorboard angle won't slip. I replaced the clevis pin clips for the mounts when I did this. Even with the rubber there was a bit of high-frequency vibration to the floorboards on my test ride.
On the Sport Glide, with the pegs, I'm always very conscious how close my heels are to the ground when cornering. With the floorboards that wasn't the case today.
Got the xfmt lowers for bout 60 bucks, went with Memphis fats 17", sundowner seat- more comfortable for MoMA, 4 1/2 pull back risers. Man what a nice ride she is.
What does the Memphis Fats measure from top of windshield to the top of headlight?
Typically that is the definition of "size" so I would think in this case, 17".
Cheers,
M
I'm not sure at what point they measure for proclaimed height?
Just curious...... as that exact measurement from you would give me a comparison to my Gustafson high vented.
Today I finished the floor board install by raising the brake pedal, so no more "Dancer's toe" when applying rear brake. I also swapped the 12" slip streamer for a 14" slip streamer. It's fun dialing this bike in!

For single plane windscreens, which the Memphis Fats is, the "size" is from the headlight cutout to the top edge of the. windscreen.
These are my current wind management solutions.
For comparison, my 15" Gustafson's vented w/s sits about 16"above the headlight.
Curious, if I were to try a Memphis Shades Fats, I believe that I would need a 19" to get the same height. That said the M/S's would sit about 8" forward of the base of the fairing/windshield combo. Not sure I that would put the driver in a calmer or more buffeted wind zone?
