Can not get over what great fuel mileage my 114 Heritage is getting. Even with the HD torque Cam installed and riding the way I do......A lot of exercising the throttle with....Er, the other day found that I was cruising along at the bikes Speed Limiter for about a mile. Love the feel of the Torque of this thing. Getting from 44 to 47 MPG, easy 200 miles out of a tank. :thumb

Congrats on the above bike. You will love it !
I just got Olive home too. Been trying out some different spring seat configurations.
Home grown set up. Seat from my 65 pan.
HDs new spring seat kit for street bob and slim. Fits fine on Olive.
The new seat is surprisingly well built and is ok on the back. Not a huge amount of travel but actually does ok considering its totally low profile. its sits me well lower, which eliminates heaps of buffeting and air. Not as comfy or as much travel as the seat set up from my 65 pan. Imagine sitting in a caddilac thats on an ocean liner. im talking no more bumps. period. I will be going back to that seat, but with the increased travel comes saddle height. which means back to buffeting if your 6 foot or taller. So I'll be heading for a taller screen. Waiting for the taller blacked out OEM version. until then I may even go back to the sundowner for a comparison.
I'm sure I like all my bikes alot when I first get them, but it sure does feel like I haven't enjoyed a bikes raw emotional content of its engine characteristics this much, since the evo. I'm sure I'll over post this, but it's just that good. Im riding more..and im riding more often. Any excuse to ride. Or even without one.

Thanks Fish
The low profile seat seems to put me a touch back and perhaps an inch lower that the stock seat. I'd need to spend a bit more time in it to make better comment. On good highways, I think you may be ok. Once your on it the springs are already compressed enough that there's not alot of travel left, but it still seems to react better than it should. It's the hardest out of all the seats, but because it gives, I'd still rate it over the stock.
I can say, if I was 20 to 25 again, in the u.s., and wanted a stripped down look, I'd ride the low profile spring seat all day and all night. A few decades on, and on far less than ideal roads, I would probably rather get caught in heavy rain than be stuck with the stock seat for very long. For me, I think I'm similar to Deerides. It Just got into my tailbone vertebrae after 40 minutes and I knew I had ridden it for the next 3 days.
The ranking goes like this:
65 Pan seat - With tall springs, silky smooth and for a tall person better ergonomic due to sitting higher and stretching your legs out. Ride all day on it, but a higher shield needed. Full face helmet helps = acceptable, but you still can hear alot of windwash hitting your dome. I ride half helmet alot and with that seat above 55 the wind gets old in 30 or 40 miles. Or less if your 70 mph. Need taller screen and jobs done.
Next is the sundowner. For a non spring seat it's well made, plush, and does change your height a little, but not enough to need a new screen.
3rd place is the low profile spring saddle. You could get a bit more travel with slightly taller stiffer springs, but at the end of the day, it's a bobber seat. Not a tour master. I think you could grow to hate it on a long day. But for a light young lad, could be ok. I don't love the looks or ride enough to keep it at this stage in life, but back in the day would have been the perfect solution.
Last place goes to the stock seat. My evo heritage had a better Seat, and so did my twin cam. The M8 frame and suspension help hide the fact that the new seat isn't that great, but I will not return to the stock seat. Ever.
I can also say, Christ ! these seats are expensive! but greeting it right and keeping my back sweet for another few decades is worth it to me.
All the best Fish and Fellow riders. May warm weather and time off plague you as much or more than the work and the cold ))

Thanks for in-depth break down kb. I may have to add it to my list of mods. I love the way the Pan seat looks, but at 5’6 I’m not looking to go taller. I remember the age of invincible endurance and all the crazy things I did with it. I’m certainly past that, but the low profile seat might still be inside the boundary of possibility. My plan is for a convertible bobber version of my Hertiage that I can swap back to stock in about 30 minutes of wrench spinning. It’ll probably be more like 90 minutes in the end, but I really want to enjoy those frame lines more some days.
