I think my bike's front end is too soft with a lot of brake dive. I was going to have the fork oil changed to heavy duty oil at the first servicing. But I have read that these bikes have the new Showa front fork cartridge and not the former springs. Does this mean that little or no adjustment can be made to the front end without changing out the cartridges? I would rather not go down the Ohlins route just yet.
Yes, they are the LP XL Classic Bags. Physically, the overall bag outside is not much different in size from the stock bags because they fit in the shipping box the LP bags came in just about the same way. If you look closely you will see the the top sits a little bit lower and the bottom seems to have more clearence from the right side pipes and left side drive cover than the stock bags. However, I believe the added volume comes from the shape and being significantly less narrow at the bottom. The LP bags also have a little "give" to the sides so you can "stuff them" a little easier when needed. It is only 5:30 AM here in Florida. In a couple of hours after the sun comes up I take my Laptop bag out and see how it fits. Will let you know a little later.
Also, I just had my Front Suspension replaced with the HD Low Profile kit. They are springs and the ones they removed are springs. I did have them use the heavy duty oil when they did the swap. Very little brake dive now yet suspension does not feel stiff.
JFYI: This may have been just me, on a much heavier bike than I had ridden in the past, but my son had pointed out to me that I wasn't utilizing my rear brake enough to minimize front end brake dive when stopping. I found that I needed to exert significantly more and earlier rear brake to get a smooth dive free stop. This was before I had the suspension and oil change done. I had been applying the rear brake like it had power assist like a car and all the stopping was being done with the front brake causing a lot of dive.
Thats the XL Classic bags right? You mention they only provide a little more space. They appear much bigger than stock. Would they be like at least 30% larger for decent space and hold a normal laptop bag? I really have to scrunch up my laptop bag to get it to fit.
The top opening is only 7"X 13" and depth is only 11" minimum over the pipes. A little deeper outboard of the pipes. None of my Lapdtop bags (with a 15" laptop) will fit and they did not fit in the stock bags either. A smaller slim 12" laptop in a case might fit.
If you need to carry a bigger laptop you might want to consider a lugggage rack and bungie cords or a tour pack. I'm considering LP's Tour pack for a future addition.
I received and installed my new LeatherPro Saddlebags on my Cherry. I think they look good.
No lock hasp in the way. Seems to be a little more storage, especialy because of the bump towards the rear adds more usable space.
The install was easy after figuring out the instructions...needs to be a little clearer.
Two bolts replace the Heritage mounting bolts.
No longer need to unbolt the bags to remove.
Easy on /off clamp that locks on and secured with an interior keyed lock.
The cargo straps have hidden easy connect heavy duty plastic clips but the cargo straps could be used by them selves to hold the lid closed with an overstuffed saddlebag.
The lock is very secure using a long curved latching mecanism that hooks into the hasp.
The leather is very HEAVY DUTY and workmanship seems supperb.
so they can be removed just by unlocking that chrome clamp ? they really look good , i'm starting to consider buying a deluxe and getting these bags rather than the Heritage and replacing the sometimes self opening while riding HD bags .
damn ! so much to consider !

You use the small key to unlock the interior lock and the lift up on a strap that releases the latches on back side of the bag from the studs that were supplied by LP that I installed. They simply slip off then.
There are differences between the Deluxe and the Heritage. All chrome and WW's on the Deluxe as well as a lower seat height. Also, it does not come with a Windshield and Cruise Control is not available.
Ohh how did you fix that buzzing. I think I have that same issue. Can you point out what to tighten down with a picture maybe. I sounds like a loose bolt vibrating at around 2900rpm on 2 gear, Drives me nuts trying to find it.
Theres a philips screw at the bottom of each trim ring. Just try snugging them a bit. In my case it was the right side passing lamp.
I finally found it by having my wife hold the throttle at 2900rpms in neutral while I went around the front end with hands trying to see what would stop the buzz. A little squeeze on that ring and all was quiet. Best of luck.
