The Everything 2018+ Heritage Thread
I had to replace my stock seat for a H-D Reach seat before my bike ever left the showroom. It is very similar to stock, but shaped to move me forward and lower a bit. Same kind of ride I believe, 2 plus hours and it starts to feel like sitting on a wooden bench.
I'm having Mean City Cycles to do their memory foam mod to my rider and passenger seat on July 24th. They claim it will make the seats more confortable for the longer rides. It will also lower me another 1/2 inch and narrow the crotch area a little for an eaiser reach to the ground for me.
Most posters who have suggested MCC have had nothing but good things to say about their work. My son, who rides an older Road King, had his seat done by MCC and is very happy. He does 8 hour trips from NC to here in Fl regularly in comfort (he claims).
You asked.
folks are right....it’s all about dimensions. I’m 5’8” and 30” inseam. Seat is not perfect, but it easily did the job.
Personally I can't wait for H-D to come out with another speedo that shows RPM and MPH on separate gauges like the ones shown as options for the earlier model Heritage.
Rineharts are very popular choice for the Heritage. My dealer service department guys were not concerned about the Rineharts on my Cherry as long I did not use a non H-D Tuner on the bike. Mine is a 107 so I did do a Stage I air breather upgrade and did use the H-D Street Tuner before installing the Rineharts, so no warrenty concerns at this time. However, as I have mentioned before, the stock slip-on are in my storage shed and can be re-installed in a few minutes if I needed to take the bike in for major warrenty work.
Just curious, unless you are planning to move out of Florida to a state with emmision inspections, why are you concerned about 50 state compliance? BTW, Rinehart states that their Slip-ons are for non-street use (I guesss that is why a lot of folks install them on their bikes that they never ever ever ever ride on the street
As for sound, IMHO they are loud but not toooooo loud. The don't rattle my neighbors windows as I pull out at easy throttle-on speeds, but can/will wake up an inatentive drivers upon heavy acceleration. Crusing rumble is pleasant.
I know here in Florida the police are lienent about loud bikes, but I would not hesitate to ride my bike in any state because of concerns about it being too loud.
Do enjoy your new ride and be safe.
