the quick detach mounts take the place of the spacers in between the bags and the fender rails so you can have the quick detach mounts and keep the bags on.

I use the Hd heritage tour pack. My girl loves it says very comfy.
good for the extra storage space which equals both bags both together. Can place two 3/4 helmets when parked and locked which is also nice. But quality is not as good as I wish it was. So yes over priced but crap happens sometimes. And hope someone makes a liner for it down the road.

Thank you, sir. I seem to remember with the old Softail, you had to get that big bracket. This is a good solution.

I brought the bike to dealer and stated the Voltage Regulator was bad based on the high voltage diagnosis codes I was getting. The bike was under warranty so I wanted to go through normal protocol to have it repaired. They said it would be 3-4 days for them to get to it. So four days later they called and said the battery is not the factory battery, and even though it was still an H-D battery, it wasn't the factory battery and so they couldn't fix it under warranty. They also said the installed battery was tested and was showing high cranking amps (this doesn't drive high voltage and the new softails have a higher cca battery than the old ones).

In so many words I called them out on all this and so they backed down and replaced the battery, cleared the diagnosis codes and sent me on my way. I was just happy to get my bike back, but as expected the same diagnosis codes reappeared 30 minutes later. I called them again and they said bring the bike back and they'll troubleshoot again (lol), but if it's a bad VR they don't have one in stock and it would be 14 days to order and replace it. I ended up calling another dealer that had a VR in stock and just went and bought and installed it myself. My first experience with a service department and was a total bad experience. Not worth the hassle.

Btw, when I tested the VR myself it was producing > 16.5 volts. Typically should produce about 14V. The high voltage diagnostic codes appear when voltage detected is > 16 VDC.

This dealer was not the dealer I bought the bike from but they're my closest dealer and the one I typically go to for parts, they didn't have an anniversary heritage, but a few years back I bought a bike from them.

Default A mine of information

Coming close to getting one of these, so this thread has been fascinating.
I'm waiting for a used bike to be transferred to my local dealer: 107 in red with Rineharts and stage 1, as well as a sissy bar and rack. About 1700 miles. These are the mods I would have made.
I was originally looking at either a slim or a fat boy; this looks a bit more multi-functional. I'm coming from a GS.

They were probably installed with red locktite and torqued to a zillion pounds. Have been recommended to try some heat to release the locktite.

If I get the existing SOB's off, I will take and post pic's of the install. I will also see if I can find where these adapters came from. Don't think they are an H-D product, but will let you (all) know.

Hang in there until I see if these work.
Follow up as promised

I found these passenger foot boards (H-D Part no. 50810-08 $179.95) complete with supports (H-D Part no. 50400-071 $149.95) at a swap meet yesterday and paid $150. They fit a number of prior model year Softail’s including the 2017 Deluxe. I wasn’t sure they would fit, but I took the chance and bought them.

H-D 50810-08 H-D Part 50400-07A

As I mentioned in my previous post, I attempted to remove the existing right side passenger peg post but could not break lose the bolt holding it into the frame. In trying to break it free, I messed up the Allen Wench socket head. Since the bolt is recessed deep inside the peg post there was no way to get any kind of vice grip on it. So I decided to drill it out. It was a beast of a job but I managed. I had to buy a 9/16” dia. drill bit because a ˝” bit just wasn’t quite large enough to remove the full bolt head.

I used a series of drill bits from small to large cooled with WD-40 to drill out the bolt head. High speed drilling eats up drill bits as you all are probably aware.

Once the bolt head was removed, the peg slipped off easily and I was left with the headless bolt projecting from the bike frame. It took extreme clamping power to fix a vice grip to the bolt and I had all I could do to back the bolt out. The Lock-tite they used was not red, but it sure held it very tightly.

I use a new Stainless Steel Allen Wrench Socket Head bolt to mount the new right side passenger foot board support. There were no interferences on the right side and the U-shape portion of the support bracket fit nicely around steel plate behind the right side rubber v-mount saddle bag brace connector.

Moving to the left side, I tried for a few minutes to break the bolt free but to no avail. So I went straight to the drill out procedure. Again a beast of a job, but things went a little faster since I kind of knew what I doing. Once the peg was removed I used the vice grips again to back out the bolt. However this side was even more difficult to back the bolt out, but with a lot of grunting and cursing I finally got it out. I was running out of steam, hot and sweaty and getting very tired by this time.

Not quite so lucky with fit on the left side. The transmission housing and the large pivot shaft nut interferes with the passenger foot board support. Additionally, the u-shape portion of the support does not align with the saddle bag brace mount as it did on the right side.

To clear the interferences, I had to grind away portions of the support so it would lay flat against the frame (see photo’s). I removed the saddle bag brace rubber v-mount and reinstalled it with a longer bolt clamping the u-shape portion of the support between the bike frame and the v-mount. This bolt also served to prevent the support from rotating when the foot board is stood on. Again, I use a new Stainless Steel Allen Wrench Socket Head bolt to mount the new left side passenger foot board support.

Everything is dry fit on the bike and my lady is happy. Tomorrow I take it apart again, touch up all bare steel with black touch up paint and do a final reinstall using Blue Lock-tite and make sure the new bolts are tight.

I guess I lucked out!

Wow FrankEV you really went above and beyond the call of duty. Nice job. I was fearful that those bolts would strip. I wonder if a torch may have helped loosen them. Drilling them out is ugly and I would have been swearing the whole time.

So the 2017 Softail supports do work (with a little modification). Good to hear I think I may give it a try. Thanks for all your hard work!!

Default Heritage 114 stage 4

are any of you guys familiar with the rev limit on the 114 stage 4? I have been running mine through the paces and found it inconvienently cuts off around 6300 rpm. Engine feels like it wants more

IINM, all the Harley Stage kits for the M8 change the RPM limit from stock 5500 up to a new limit of 6400.
