My Hammock seat was put on by HD. I've taken it off twice. The pillion seat is attached to front seat and not to bike. Only thing holding my hammock seat down is a clip on the front of rider's seat and the chrome top bolt at the rear of pillion.

But, JFYI I found the stock windshield did little, if nothing, to reduce buffeting. I might even say for me it seemd to make it worse. I first added famgs and that helped some. Then I replaced my stock shield with a Fredom Recurve (15" because I'm short) and have nearly no bothersome buffeting at all.

My 2 cents for what ever its worth.
I have a Rifle windshield being delivered tomorrow. It's 4 inches taller than stock and 1 and half wider on each side. I'm 6 foot. Give a review once it's installed.

Thats how mine is, but it sure seems based on the instructions and other posts I’ve seen that there is either different hardware or you move the factory bolts when using this seat.

Mine is also secured with the front tab and rear bolt but I’m not using the grab strap because I couldn’t figure out how to make it fit. Seems there may be new hardware for that too.

Well let the games begin. Just sprung for a new one. Traded a Honda CTX700 for it. Got a fair deal. Will take possession in three days.
Best HD I have ever owned. This is number six and has to be the last one for me. I am 66.

Need to know if there is a backrest/sissy bar backrest setup that can be mounted on the stock bike without having to do the HD quick detach bracket deal. I like the stock bags even tho they are not quick detach, but want to add a backrest.

Said the same thing about my last three or four cars/trucks. I'm 76 and just last year bought a '17 Chevy Equinox and will most likely trade it in by '20. Just hopeful there will be still others in my future.

I kinda assume it will be the same with the bike, unless something drastic happens to me physically, this is probably not my last bike, but should be a keeper for some time.

One of my tee shirts reads: You don't stop riding because you get old, you get old because you stop riding. I'm following that advice.

I've got about 5,000 miles now.... Since purchasing back in January i think I've experienced a little bit of everything discussed on this thread.

1. Occasional fogging of speedo - I've had two occasions where the speedo fogged up over the LED display. Once was high humidity and once was not. Each time the fogging went away after a while.

2. Denied warranty issues - My voltage regulator failed and the dealer tried to deny the warranty stating that the battery was not the right battery. Total BS. Ended up buying and replacing the VR myself.

3. Wind buffeting and fang installation - I installed the fangs and it indeed eliminated all the turbulent air at my chest... plus i really like how they look. I think the windshield is plenty big.

4. Screamin' Eagle Street Cannon / Stage 1 - I installed the Street Cannons and tuned with the SE street tuner. I like the sound but may one day try out the Rineharts.

5. Still waiting on passenger floorboards - Getting impatient. I'm going to build up something custom if someone doesn't come up with something soon.

6. Despite some of these negatives, this bike is truly awesome! Ton's of power, tons of torque, tons of fun.

Tour Pac vs backrest/ rack

Well since it seems no one wants to buy my heritage (still trying to wrap my mind around it) I guess I'm just going to find a way to keep it.

So for those of you with a significant other.... does anyone have experience with both a standard sissy bar/ backrest vs the tour Pac and if so, which do they prefer?

Thanks for any and all thoughts

Currently using only the H-D quick mount sissy bar (low hieght) with passenger back rest. Works OK for the short trips I'm doing with the S.O. right now. She is comfortable. I use a grasshopper rider backrest also.

The nice part is If it comes a time when I need more, I would purchase the H+D tour pack support frame that is also a quick connect so I could swap it out when needed, and then buy a tour pack, but probably not from H-D. Lots of problems with them and poor quality has been reported here-in. I would most likely buy a tour pack from LeatherPros that would match my new saddle bags. I really don't need to ride around locally with a tour pack mounted all the time, especially since many times it will be just me ridiing solo.

Now, if I had gone to hard bags to make it an almost true bagger, then the typical clamshell tour pack setup would be a necessary just for the looks.

Just picked up some H-D passenger foot boards at a swap meet today that are suppose to be off a '17 Deluxe. They included adapters (haven't researched where from yet) but they look like they may just mount up without modification. Started to install today but got fustrated because I could not break free the bolts that hold the existing peg post on, so I will try again tomorrow. They were probably installed with red locktite and torqued to a zillion pounds. Have been recommended to try some heat to release the locktite.

If I get the existing SOB's off, I will take and post pic's of the install. I will also see if I can find where these adapters came from. Don't think they are an H-D product, but will let you (all) know.

Hang in there until I see if these work.
