I am on my second 2018 Heritage both had over a 1000 miles on them both squeal like stuck pigs on the back brakes. The first one they swapped everything from wheel, rotar, swingarm, brakes and pads. Everything completely new and it still squealed. The second one has nothing done because the dealership says there is no fix. first one was twisted cherry and the second one is an anniversary(swapped as a make good). Also they tried the floating rotar from a fat bob and that still didn't fix it. The dealerships are stalling everyone with squeals hoping they don't hit up customer service at corporate. I would say call the number and start complaining now or you'll just wait 3 months and have to start complaining then. Hope this helps.

I'll offer this and apologize if it's not relevant.......

I own a 2018 FLHCS....

After a weekend on the Dragon, I kept hearing a whine coming from the rear of the bike. I was afraid it was a bearing, but with only 6,000 miles didn't seem reasonable. Braking didn't make it go away, it did it with bike while coasting in neutral and off. The main thing I noticed was that it didn't happen when the bike was cooled off.....only after it had been ridden a while. That led me to wonder if it was the belt which reportedly shrinks when it gets hot and can potentially whine. So, today I took the bike to my service dept to ask what was going on.

Here's what I was told.....

HD apparently aligned the drive train about 1/4" offset for some reason unknown to me and not explained by the service advisor. They have apparently now conceded that the result of that is a "sound" which is expected.....not a "noise" that is not expected and not good. The result is that there is no solution. They have no fix.

I am not a mechanic and have NO idea if this is accurate.....just relaying what I was told.

Yes definitely feel less wind. Pockets are super nice to protect my phone and ecig from rain and bouncing around in bag.

I think they actually tried to grind the rivet ends smooth lol.

They are really trying to make things right which is great because most of their products are solid and I really want to support their products......
I thought this looked a little funky!! Not sure if I will try to exchange it or just drill and replace the rivets and glue the leather down....???!!!

I too experience a "sound" when I'm slowing down, coasting, braking, not braking, in gear, or neutral. It's only apparent after riding a while. It's not necessarily loud. Its kind of a ruh-ruh-ruh-ruh. Kind of like the faint sound of the starter on an old chevy that just doesn't want to turn over. Not a grind, not really annoying, but still noticeable.

You have described it exactly. I'd be interested to hear an explanation from your service guys should you choose to ask the question.

I’m not having the squeal, I guess I’m just lucky? Haven’t heard anyone else mention it so I’d be suspicious of it being a design element. I suppose it’s not possible it’s the gear drive in your counterbalancer singing a bit on decel?
