So the 2017 Softail supports do work (with a little modification). Good to hear I think I may give it a try. Thanks for all your hard work!!
Thanks

Since these were factory installed bolts the Lock-tite (If that was used) was not Red but appeared to be clear. But what ever kind it was, it sure wasn't going to vibrate loose.
Could not really tell what size allen Wrench was needed. One fit, but felt lose. The next sizes up (SAE or MM) did not quite fit. Could not use the short part to the wrench. When I added leverage, it just tore up the bolt head socket.
It was suggested to use an impact gun, but since I'm not a mechanic I don't own one and I do not have all the proper tools at my disposal. I did apply heat using a soldering Iron, but I was very leary about using a propane torch. The heat (probably not hot enough) did not make a difference. Once I buggered up the bolt heads I had no choice but top drill them out. In the long run, I think this was the best choice. If the bolt would have snaped off at the frame I would have had to drill the out and retap the threads...something I may not been able to do.

Even if they made a part to fit the '18's, the existing peg post removal would have the same problem. So, if you decide to attemp it, I would suggest the drill out procedure from the get go. Use a large slow speed corded drill, cooling oil and make sure to have the 9/16 bit available to use at the end of the drill out procedure to clear out the entire bolt head as you reach the shoulder inside the peg post.

Lots of luck. Oh the things we do for our better halves.

The standard bracket (and plate) sticks up like a massive billboard!

Looking for something that lays a little flatter to the fender and smaller 0 maybe foot a 7x5” plate?

I have the Tour-pak fitted, so I have the maximum size plate for the space i.e. 7"x5". Got followed down the M4 by a marked police car who didn't seem bothered. There is a relocator kit available, but that leaves three holes in the rear mudguard.

Everything is dry fit on the bike and my lady is happy. Tomorrow I take it apart again, touch up all bare steel with black touch up paint and do a final reinstall using Blue Lock-tite and make sure the new bolts are tight.

I guess I lucked out!
is the floorboard actually touching the cover ? that's going to wear off paint over time if it is .
i sure hope your wife appreciates all the work you're doing to make her ride more comfortable !

No, it does not touch.

Left side, final install

Right side final install

Just noticed that when backing the bike up (which have to do to get out from under my carport each time) my legs hit the boards. Not a big deal, but something I will have to learn to live with. Still quite happy the way the install turned out.

BTW, If she was my wife, I probably would have told her to live with the foot pegs...but a SO is another story.

An air impact wrench and heat would be a better option than drilling out. I had same issue on my dyna, they really use some extra strong loctite on that bolt.

Just a quick update on the Passenger Foot boards I installed on my Cherry.

Went for a two hour ride yesterday with my SO. She was happy as a pig in s....! She said she was very comfortable and her right foot was a lot cooler then before. This is a two fold benefit because her foot is further away from the exhaust pipes and her heel does not hit the pipes.

Also, since she is new to being a passenger on a motorcycle, the foot boards made her life a lot easier for getting on and off.

I'm happy she's happy and that is all the counts in the end.

I'm waiting for a used bike to be transferred to my local dealer: 107 in red with Rineharts and stage 1, as well as a sissy bar and rack. About 1700 miles. These are the mods I would have made.
I was originally looking at either a slim or a fat boy; this looks a bit more multi-functional. I'm coming from a GS.
i came from a string of bmw’s and a few HD, and my most recent bike was a GSA. My off road days are done due to a fubar’d back and the Heritage is a great on road alternative. In fact, I prefer it.

This is my bike. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My bike is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

My bike, without me, is useless. Without my bike, I am useless. I must ride my bike true. I must ride faster than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must pass him before he runs over me. I will...

My bike and myself know that what counts in this war is not the miles we ride, the noise of our pipes, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the fun that counts. We will have fun...

My bike is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its engine. I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage as I will ever guard my legs, my arms, my eyes and my heart against damage. I will keep my bike clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will...

Before God, I swear this creed. My bike and myself are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.

So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy, but peace!
