I’ve got the same bike. The display stays on whichever item you leave it at. Repeatedly press the button until it reads RPM. It will stay there, even after ignitions cycles, until you press the button again and choose a new item, ie. clock, odometer etc etc.

The last display will stay on until you change to a different one.
This can be done while riding to see trip milage, milage remaining until empty, time, etc.
Just cycle through until RPM appears and stop. The rev numbers will appear shortly thereafter.
in case you did not figure out how to zero the trip milage A & B, when the trip milage appears press and hold the button until it returns to Zero.

thanks guys, I'm so excited about my new 114, couldn't sleep last night. After a great yr on an RGU, this thing feels like a sportster on steroids! I ordered a backrest on ebay yesterday for $80 for the stock seat. looking forward to getting some miles on the bike.

Decided to spring for a Mustang Vintage solo seat with backrest.
Just installed a black engine guard.

You only have a few options:

1) keep it stock or street cannons. No issues on warranty. Wait till expiration then change it out. BTW, the street cannons are only marginally louder.
2) replace with aftermarket pipes, replace with stock for warranty issues. Hope you never break down out of town.

No matter what people or dealer will say, eliminating the cats will void the warranty. Some dealers may work with you on this, but dont count on it.

I really like the look of that 2-1 on the Heritage. Now you can add some deeper bags on it. Like some springer bags or something.

I am going to do sort of a review of my new 2018 M8 Heritage and compare it to my former 88 cid TC Deluxe and my former 2006 CVO softail springer.

First, the new bike is orders of magnitude better than the previous TC softails in every way. Much has been written about the new M8 engine and new softail chassis/frame and suspension. It is all true in comparison to prior year softails.

Suspension and handling is far superior to TC bikes. I am impressed with handling, clearance, braking and power. The new ABS brakes are excellent. The older TC brakes were crap in comparison. The forks and rear suspension are superb. Again, the TC bikes are not even in the same league.

Power: The new 107 is at least as powerful as the 110 cid Screaming Eagle engine in my CVO. As far as comparing to the 88 cid TC, it is not even worth comparing. I had to strain to get up hills on that old 88 inch bike. This new M8 is amazing. I love the stock mufflers as they are quiet. I like quiet. To each their own. The stock pipes will stay.

What is funny is that people think they have to make a bunch of expensive staging mods to a bike. It is fine if you choose to do so. The M8 will never outrun many other bikes and it is not meant to. If you want a fast bike, go buy a fast bike. I do not see value added in doing expensive stage mods to a touring/cruising bike. If I have a hankering for more performance, I will buy a performance bike and have at it.

New bikes and cars have to adhere to EPA regs. Not much you can do about that except write to your representatives. Meanwhile, I do not intend to void my four year warranty. I am more than happy with the new M8 Heritage.
