I bet if you replaced it with a recurve shield you would not be likely to run without it very often.

It might just be me so I don't mind wind in my face, but I don't like to haved to fight the wind to sit nice and straight in the saddle. If I liked to lean into the wind I would not have purchased a Heritage. That is what all those other bad *** models are for.

Can someone with the Hammock seat take a picture UNDER the seat for me? I'm trying to figure out if the factory seat bolts (the ones in the middle where the pillion slides onto and that hold the rider's seat in place) are supposed to stay, be removed, or be replaced by some other bolts that my seat definitely did not come with.

It looks to me like you are supposed to remove them, see the highlighted instructions, remove and discard: washers and studded strap...

Here is the link to the full instructions...

At 5’6 the stock shield is perfect for me. Much better than my ‘16 RK was.

I now have 20,000 miles on my 18 Heritage 114 bought in October. I have to say, this is the best bike I have ever owned. Did the stag II with torque cam and Rinehart slip ons at around 2,000 miles. Just got back from a trip to Northern Tennessee. I didn't take any major roads just back roads there and back. I set the cruise at 60 mph. Climbing the mountains it never lost 1/2mph even pulling my 600 lb camper. I love this bike.

Hey Pothole914,

Very happy to hear the bike is doing well.

Curious, with that many miles already it poses a few questions:
Wondering if it has been consuming oil as other's have been mentioning?
Do you do your own oil changes and service as scheduled?
What Oil are you using?
How are the OEM brakes pads and tires holding up?
How is normal riding GPM doing? Gotten better or worse over time?
BTW, is it broke in YET?

Feel free to add any other important comments.

It will be nice to know some of these answers so i'll know what to expect in about a year+ when I may have put that many miles on mine.

Thanks

Do you do your own oil changes and service as scheduled? Dealer did first 2 services, I've done the rest
What Oil are you using? Mobil V Twin in all 3 holes
How are the OEM brakes pads and tires holding up? Still Original Brake pads front and back. Had to replace the rear tire at 18,000 or so. Brake pads were checked then and still fine.
How is normal riding GPM doing? Gotten better or worse over time? Didn't worry about the mileage for the first 5,000 miles, break in. Now, getting right at 48 mpg.
BTW, is it broke in YET? I think it's broke in.LOL

Hope that helps.

Yeah, I might try one of the Recurve shields at some point. Fighting the wind on the highway with no shield gets tiring on a long ride. And I find the stock mini-apes a bit wide, which doesn't help. My stock shield allows me to get some airflow to my helmet for cooling, but keeps the worst of the weather off me if things go bad.

JFYI, when I got my bike I hated the handlebars because I could not reach them comfortably. Did not realize the tech who assembled the bike at the dealer must have been 6'-8" tall withvery long arms as the bars were set very high. I adjusted them and gained almost 4". Just recently installed ajdustable pull back risers gaining about 1 1/2" higher and about another 1" back. Now the handlebars are in a better location and feel much better. Much more comfortable with little arm and wrist strain. Aso, I get very little wind on my hands. You just might want to check the position of your bars to make sure they are in the most comfortable location.
