Went to dealer today to ride a couple of 18's RGS Special, Fatbob 114 and the Heritage 114. After the rides, I was really torn between the RGS and the Heritage. Very different bikes but with the RGS it was been there done that type of ride. Salesman who is a good friend at the perfect moment said, "you know I have the last Anniversary Blue we will probably be getting for awhile if any in the box. Bastard, Picking it up tomorrow. Was going to trade my Limited in but will keep it for those long cold rainy rides I enjoy. The Fatbob was the best hooligan bike I have ridden since my Buell days.
Just added an engine guard for my 107. Looks a lot better than I thought it would and the extra foot position is really nice. I'm looking for suggestions on getting a passenger and driver's back rest.
You may have just saved me from jumping off a cliff....
Ok Im exaggerating, but Ive had a minor buzz sound around 2900 - 3000 rpm
that I havent been able to isolate....Ive checked every fastener/part I could and never could find it. It sounded like it was coming from the front end, but every trim ring and bolt was solid. It definately seemed harmonic as the rpms were so specific. Its a very small range so I was mostly able to avoid it, but it was annoying that I couldnt get rid of it. A few times it went away by itself and I thought maybe the offending part/parts had finally worn itself into silence...but it would be there the very next ride....aaargh. Everything else about the bike has been amazing so that rattle/buzz was a real fly in my soup... I will check out the guard!!! Thank you for risking your life to test it
Next time it happens, put your hand on the right gas cap. I'm betting it will stop.
Had the same issue with mine, finally found it by accident. Replaced the cap under warranty, buzz gone.

Congrats Sectime. I think youre going to really enjoy it, and those anniversary colors are great looking.

Thanks Pothole. I tried that, but it no luck. Heat shields on the pipes were also tight. My belt guards are all snug too, but they sure are thin and flex easily towards the back. I might remove them and see if thats the ticket. Its a very minor sound, but Im stuck noticing it. The hunt continues.

Just got back from 100 mile first ride. I was laughing the first 1/2 hour. My muscle memory is on the Ultra, when I first rode away from the dealer it felt like bicycle in comparison. Ears are ringing from the buffeting, there is a steady south wind I was riding into for most of the trip. Much more room than my Ultra which I have always felt cramped in leg room. Especially rear brake. The narrower primary case was nice when stopping. Another pleasant surprise was getting back to basics and enjoying the ride. I'm one to have music blaring, fussing with Navi, talking on phone, etc., I enjoyed the change.
Yeah, it’s deffinately “less is more” minimalist experience. I don’t miss the girth and weight of my Road King. It’s so effortless. Taking the shield off it it’s even more bare bones in the wind vibe. I love it! Yet it’s still plush compared to my Sporty. Really a blast around town or long distance. Nice balance overall.
Nothing was fixing the buzz. Finally had the wife hold the throttle at 3000 RPMs in neutral while I went around the bike and pressed on things to try to head a difference. Didnt want to do it for long to avoid excessive heat.
Grabbing the right side passing lamp with both hands made a difference. I’d already been around the front end tightening fasteners and trim rings before, but it seemed to be the culprit. Gave the trim ring another few turns, and there’s two Allen head bolts under the light bar near the ends I got another 1/4 turn out of. 45 mile ride and seems to be solved. So far so good.
Considering that there is only one slip on that is "legal" - the Street Cannon, has anyone here installed them on their 18 Heritage?
1. Did you also get the HD Tuner?
2. If so, is there a specific canned map?
3. How do they sound?
Good question(s) rOde_runr.
I just bought the SE exhaust as I wanted a throatier sound without having any potential "W" issues on my 107.
However my access to unlimited funds is somewhat (ahem) limited therefore I did not buy the Street Tuner at the same time.
The bottom line is the pipes growl satisfactorily when you grab a big right hand of throttle but there is no discernible/significant (to me) decibel change at idle or low RPM; which is just fine for slinking in and out of the neighborhood without rattling peoples windows.
So for me the perfect pipe; loud when you want them, quiet when you don't.
I would say however there is an occasional hesitancy in blip response that I'm hoping SE Street Tuner (my next purchase) will solve.
Similar experience anyone?
BTW - its great to have a dedicated 2018 Heritage line of communication.
Yes, throttle lag can be adjusted out with the tuner. I felt similarly about my Canons, but 5,000 miles later I’m getting the itch to hear something different... ah well, the cycle of life...
