Just picked up a new FXLR, what a fun bike to ride. I do not have it yet as I worked a bunch of add-ons into the deal, all in all I think I did fine with the deal after everything the bike was right at 20k. List of immediate stuff the dealer is putting on before I pick it up are:

Stage 3 kit
SE tuner and auto tune
S&S Super Street 2:1 exhaust
SE Heavy Breather
Black cam cover, rocker upper, rocker lowers lowers, and tranny cover
Chrome fork lowers with Legend cartridges

Stuff I will put on when I pick it up are:
Kraus polished 10" pullback risers
Big Al's gloss black bars
Whiplash tuck and roll Gambler seat with silver stitching

Then ride it for the rest of riding season and start the next step over the winter.

The obligatory picture, still at the dealer.

Anyone go from a touring bike to an m8 lowrider. Had a Roadking special that got totaled now thinking of getting a new soft tail lowrider . Just wondering how they perform for longer highway trips.would probably wind up throwing an fxrt fairing on it for some wind management

I traded my 2014 Street Glide last November, The Low Rider is for sure more fun for me. I use a back rest for long(er) rides. I use a FF helmet, haven't need a windshield. I suppose some highway pegs would be nice but no simple solution for those on this bike and again I'm comfortable with out them. I like the stock seating position and the mid pegs help with bike handling. Higher flatter handle bars are more natural on this bike.

I just went from a 2019 Road Glide to a 2019 FXLR and the Low Rider is much more fun to ride, as for long distance I cannot give first hand for a little longer. You can really tell the difference in the frame and suspension. When I test rode one I figured it would be fine for a 1000 mile ride and that is the most I would or have done in a day. Good luck with your choice, but I think you will like the new Softail over the Touring.

I went from a FLHTCi to a 2018 Lowrider, replaced the seat with a Saddleman Explorer and put some Leather Pros saddle bags along with a windshield and did 1500 miles over Memorial Day weekend, no regrets. I’ve since ditched the windshield for an FXRT fairing, It’s the best fairing I’ve ridden behind, it seems like the faster you go the more the bike is on rails.

Just got one also. Consider putting on the LED tail light--big difference particularly during the day. With so many careless drivers, taking a step to make yourself more visible is a good investment. Hope you post an update of how you like your Stage 3 upgrade after you have a few miles on the bike.
