Where did you get the black primary cover? Do you need to lay bike on its side to replace the cover? Empty oil?
Harley offers lots of them (they call 'em "derby covers") and the aftermarket offers millions of them.
I put on the Brass Collection derby cover and am very happy with it.
You do need a new gasket, and you have to have the bike standing up vertically (cannot be on the sidestand). And you want to be aware that oil could come out, but generally it shouldn't if your primary's oil level is at the proper level.

Thanks for the tips. Ill look for something Black from HD and make sure I get a new gasket too.
The black primary cover is off the Heritage Classic 114. Part number is 25700750. I re-used the original gasket. Don't have to replace it. Did it this time and have before on other bikes with zero issues.

Thanks for your reply. Found a cover I like for $60. Black and not glossy. My daughters will dig the skull 😂
Cant see a way of using spoils unless one was to drill through the swing arm somewhere.
Tires: the Cobras are about all I can find and I like the fact that they are radials. Tires are on my shortlist. The OEMs lack a bit in traction under hard acceleration. Im able to break the rear tire loose shifting through 3rd gear when really getting on it.
