I got to thinking about this AGAIN .lol. 2 things:
I don't think it would be that hard to Fab a bracket to make the switch. Prime and paint, won't see it anyway?
Use a 90° drill and tap a hole in the lower to accept the typical bucket mount? If ya ever wanted to go back, you'd never see or at least notice the hole under the OEM anyway?
Hey Mchad, do you know where I can find the schematics for the 2018 Breakout Headlight connector?
I'm moving forward with the headlight upgrade to the JW Speaker 8791 Adaptive 2. I have the bracket being fabricated now. I want to see how I have to wire the new headlight with the existing connector on the bike.
Keep it n touch with your project. I'm interested too. Maybe show a pic of the fabbed bracket b4 install? I'm not spring in that much for the headlamp though!!!

Sorta surprised it won't be plug n play, but IDK. You could always take a meter and test at the plug. Low/running, then high beam? Ground will have continuity to the negative battery post/chassis.

Here,
And here are the pn’s for the connectors if you can’t reuse the harness.

The headlight is a sealed unit. If he wants to replace it with a standard round bucket he’ll need to fabricate wiring harness unless he can get a bucket from a Low Rider or street bob. Those would probably just plug into the connector in the frame.
Thanks for the info. That's very helpful. I'm going to stop by the dealer this weekend and pickup (or order) a service manual. I forgot all about those.
I need to make my own cable harness, as the new headlight is not connectorized.
I'll post pictures when complete.
By any chance, have you installed heated hand grips on this particular bike?

No, And each and every time I install bars I think to myseld "should I install heated grips?" and I never do. And I always regret it. I think there's probably a psychological diagnosis for that, but who knows. I'm toying with changing the bars on my road king, and if I do, for sure this time I will. It's my mostly winter bike anyway...
