2018 Fat Bob 114 with 250 KMs lost power on highway.
Unfortunately I had a run of extremely bad luck. I had taken my bike out previously for short break in rides with no real chance for a long one due to the cold weather.
Today was was going to be my first 200km ride and just as I get on the highway I am noticing some weird things in the lead up. The gear indicator is erratic and flashing numbers of gears I am not in. Faint smell of burning. Power seemed off ... somehow I cant describe it. The engine was revving up unusually. subtle but not obvious enough for me to feel in danger.
I am in 6th gear getting up to speed the gear indicator is displaying the number 4 while I am cruising. The engine suddenly is revving and I am losing power. I am twisting the throttle but the bike seems not to be responding or struggling to respond.
i stop the bike as I lost power in a dangerous spot with a very skinny shoulder. I turn the bike off turn it on .. it cranks over fine but when I let the clutch out all the way there is no response. I try different gears nothing it wont move.
Call the the dealership after checking things over with no obvious sign of weirdness. They send someone to pick me and the bike up.
Needles to say I am super discouraged and disappointed. My first ever Harley and I am now overcome with dread that I made the wrong choice here.
I guess I should clarify that I didn’t lose electrical power at all I just lost some forward momentum power like the transmission was toast. The engine was running the entire time.
