Default USB/Lightning Cable "Mod"

Well, it's not really a "Mod", but, as most know, the 2019 Softails have a USB charing port near the front of the engine. I use a “Ram Mount with Tough Claw” to mount my cell phone on my bars when I need GPS functionality. Obviously, this isn’t required for every ride. But, when I need it, I want to have a USB cable ready to go. When not needed, I want the USB cable stowed and protected from the elements.

A quick measurement shows that a 2’ USB cable is just what’s required. I ordered these because they were braided and looked like they could withstand the heat (

).

Now for the find: Cozy Caps provide soft rubber caps for each end of the USB/Lightning cable. So, my plan is to position the cable such that if needed, I can simply uncap each end and plug into the USB port on the bike and the lightning port on my phone.

In order to cover both ends of a standard USB to Lightning cable will require these two items. I wish there was a single order that would include one of each, however ordering each of these will provide enough Cozy Caps for both ends of 2 cables:

Here are some pictures:

As of now, I have velcro’ed the USB cable to the clutch cable. Once I get the position confirmed after a few rides, I’ll probably secure it with zip ties.

Here are pics of the USB/Charger side:

Now for the Lightning side, in the stowed position. Sorry, not the best picture:

FYI: I am not affiliated with Cozy Caps in any way. At this point, I’m just reporting how I have used the product.

Anyone else have a good way to do this? I'm open to any/all suggestions.

Nice little $10 solution. Sometimes simple stuff like this makes life so much nicer!
