Default Still Getting Weird Noise.....

I know there was thread on this but I couldn't find it.

I am getting this WOO WOO type noise from the rear of my 18 Heritage. I just changed the rear tire and checked the wheel bearings and went to extremes to make sure alignment and belt adjustment is correct. Stepping on the brakes doesn't change the noise so I don't believe it's the brakes. It only does it after its hot and I only hear it between 5 and 10 miles an hour. Seems to not be as noticeable when the bags are off. Took it to the dealer and of course couldn't get it to make the noise. I still have a year of warranty but they can't fix what they can't hear. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mine did this too for a while. When I was visiting down in FL in April, I actually jacked up the bike and rotated the wheels to make sure I did not have a bad bearing. Did not make the noise when jacked up. The miles on the bike at that time were mostly short trips. In late June, I took a pretty long (700+ miles) highway trip over 3 days or so. I did not notice the "WOO WOO" sound after that. I also took a 2800+ mile highway trip in August. The sound simply went away with more miles. Just over 9000 miles on bike now.

I'm guessing that the calipers/pads were dragging a bit and with a bit of wear on the pads the clearance between pads and rotors has increased slightly, thus reducing the sound effect. Note that I have also used compressed air about 5 times to help remove brake dust residue from calipers. Maybe this has also helped.

It's your drive belt. Adjust it to the looser end of the spec and it will mostly disappear. HD seems to be setting the belts very tight.

I have 10,000 miles on mine and I always adjust to the loose end of the spec. Maybe I will go even looser.
Thanks for the links.
Thanks a lot
