Default V&H Eliminator 300 install

Hi all,
Am I the only one finding these slip ons a bitch to get over the head pipe, (still on lower one), - going to give it a break after 30 mins of trying but seems I am going to need to wet and dry the surfaces to take the tolerance down a bit......
Its on a 2020 fatboy btw
Cheers

Was an easy install for me. Even took them off and put back on once when taking the rear wheel off.

Use an expander on the muffler inlet until a new H-D seal just slips in. I bought mine at NAPA.

Same here, I had to grind down where the sleeve was welded to the shell, (on the inside) there was a ridge in it.

So you installed a muffler gasket on your Vance & Hines??? I was told they do not use the gasket.

Just for clarity I didnt - not needed - actually I would say one might not even go on with a gasket in there. I was a bit confused at first though so I checked the diameter of both the slip on and header and found they were the same which seems to confirm a gasket wasn' needed. I run her up this morning and no leaks. - cool.

In a sense Im glad I'm not alone - as I said I thought it weird how the top one just slid over, I guess that the lower header may be just a few thou oversized.
Cheers

Default Finished and installed

Better photo of the pipes installed - may put some black shrink wrap over the thread that is exposed on the top clamp.
