Default S&S Slash Cut for Heritage/Deluxe Questions

Looking at slip-ons for my '19 Deluxe, was leaning to V&H Eliminators as I've always had good luck with the brand in the past, but the S&S Slash-Cut pipes look great on the Heritage and Deluxe photos I've seen. Any one had good/bad experience with these? Do they have heat shields (i.e. can I run saddlebags above them with no issue?)

And finally - I'm in Texas - any reason I'd go for the 50 State Legal versions at $499 versus the $350 regular model?

Thanks in advance...

I used the S&S slash-cut slip-ons (cat legal version) on my heritage for about 10,000 miles. No heat shields and no problems at all. Just a tiny bit too loud for me. The legal version keeps your warranty intact if that matters to you. Using stock mufflers modified by American Custom now.

I have them but I use those TTI's from DK Customs to tame them a little sound wise and they help with reversion a little I'm told .It sounds decent has a bit of a bark under power, blapping down through the gears it has some presence too, I've set my idle at 850 so they sound OK there too , it's not potato/potato but I guess it's close as I can get without under oiling my cam chest, I can't complain about them they are quite a good thing.
The mufflers themselves have been great, they're much much lighter than the stock mufflers , the only small gripe I have is the bolts that secure to the supplied bracket grunge out fairly quickly. It could be a where I live thing as I'm only a few miles from the coast in a hot humid area of my country but yea they've grunged out a bit .

I can't imagine anyone thinks these S&S Grand National slip-ons are too loud, but I guess they are for some people.

I really like mine, and they are definitely not too loud. In fact, I wish they were louder, that's really my only complaint and it isn't much of a complaint. They growl when you get on the throttle and when you let off the throttle. Otherwise, they're quiet as a mouse.

The noise would get to me on a long high speed day out west, after maybe 500 miles at 85 mph.

OK. You're sort of a guru around these parts, so I won't disagree too much.

I am thinking about going with the slash cuts to hold me over until I go to stage 2 in the future. If I go with the street legal one’s would it be alright without a tuner? Or maybe just get the dealer download? I am sticking with the stock air filter for now.

If you’re keeping the stock air filter you shouldn’t need a tune for slip-ons alone.

Would consider S&S 2-1 super street 50 state, buy once if stg 2 in your future, swallow the cost now only the $ difference over the slip -ons
