I used a drill bit. Two actually. One very small for a pilot hole and then went a little larger. Came right out. Just be careful not to damage the threads. The top middle bolt on the engine guard turned out to be way harder then the plugs.

Oldmike's suggestion worked like a charm. No prying no drilling just a hot screw driver. Plugs came right out. Thanks Old Guy.

Hey all...these "screw" out...no need to drill, bend, maul, or mangle. Simply get a plastic prybar under edge (ones used to remove auto panels) & spin...voila.

Pick your small and thinnest screwdriver and pushed it to make a small dent then unscrew it counter clockwise

Just as an aside here is the part number for the plastic plug
10040, they call them “clips
