Swapping my Wild One Chubby Outlawz on my 19 Slim for the Fat Ape and Riser kit from HD as I think it'll fit the style of the bike better-that old school look. Bar height is the exact same so I shouldn't have to swap cables at all. Hoping this is something I can do myself, pretty handy guy and have done everything else on my bike myself. Anyone have any experience in a handlebar swap without the need to change cables? If so, hard?
Also, if anyone wants my old bars let me know, flat black color.
Should be plug and play. The new bikes have really small connectors that you can usually pull the bars fairly easy. Just be careful with the electronic throttle wires as they can be pulled out easily and the flat orange wire on the back of the switch housings. I pull all wires for each side at the same time to make it easier. Far nicer than the old days when you had to disassemble the old Delphi plugs. Good luck on your project.
I just switched bars and yes the plugs are smaller. I did have issues getting the right side through as you have two sets of wires to get through. Read on here about wire lube that electricians use to pull wire through conduit. I went to Home Depot and picked this up and two minutes later right side wires were easily pulled.
Good Luck!
