Just bought a brand new Softail Standard 2020 and I planned to make tons of mods on it! I thought it could be interesting to document the evolution of the build here!
First, here are some pictures of when I got her! Bone stock.
The first thing I did on her was the turn signals update.
Nice bike, I like the Standard. Lots of options out there to upgrade to. Just spent yesterday out in the garage with the wife upgrading her Standard. She has decided to go with the black edge cut look so we did the mirrors and the levers. She also got a seat hold down bolt and installed her new windshield and Avon grips. She has new mufflers and is just waiting on new black exhaust covers to put them on. Good luck on your project.....
Time to upgrade that cockpit! Never been a fan of the ape hangers. I've ridden a similar setup on my old bike (6.5pb risers and moto bars) and after trying that, there's no coming back 🤣😊. Risers and moto bars give a lot more control and feel of the bike.

Before installing my beloved 6.5pb setup, I wanted to try and feel the 8" straight risers. If I were a wheelie, rolling burnout and all that crazy **** type of guy, I would have picked the 8" straight for my buid. The 8" straight setup makes the stand-up position more comfortable than the pull-back setup. Maybe one day 🤣.
Back to business, here a preview of the 6.5" pb setup.

Final product 😍. I love it.
After putting 200 kms with this setup, here's what I think of it. - Once again, the moto bar and risers combo gave this bike much better handling. I can feel the bike a lot more and attack corner with way more confidence compared to the OEM setup - Didn't saw this coming but I fell in love with the lock-on grip. Having the throttle tube integrated into the rubber makes it feel way smaller. It literally feels like I'm driving a 107cu dirt bike 😁. - Regarding the m8 Softail standard platform, I think it's an incredible bike for what it cost. The bike is light, powerful and the handling is pretty amazing out of the box.
Not done yet with here thought!! - Stealth exhaust is in the mail - S&S intake is ready to be installed - OG custom Saddlemen seat is on the way
A lot of people here in Italy criticized this bike when it has been presented by HD, by sayng that is poor, too simple, ...
In my opinion these are its strenghts, it's a perfect and somehow cheap base for any kind of project.
I can't wait to see the evolution of your bike and show the final result to all the skeptic here.
