Well, the mechanical speedometer on my '94 FLSTN DID have vent holes in it and it never fogged. That's why I decided to add the vent holes. In my case it did cure over 90% of the fogging. I still see a tiny bit of fogging if the bike has been parked for a few days in very high humidity, but it goes away if I park the bike in the sun for a bit. Of course, if you never see the sun in Scotland, all bets are off.
Mine's just the opposite. Doesn't fog unless it gets hit by direct sunlight. Doesn't matter if I'm standing still or going 90 miles an hour. Then it fogs like a *****.
I'm going to strip and seal the unit myself this is bollocks.
Maybe worth placing the gauge in an oven on the lowest temperature setting with the drill holes facing up, until the moisture is driven out and then seal it up with the warm dry air remaining inside 🤔🤞🍻

Or purge the air inside with dry air or nitrogen from a tank before sealing it?
Drilling holes helped on my end. While it was happening all the time before now I see it maybe 2 times during riding season in IL and yes we have high humidity here.
I just got my replacement speedometer #70900644B installed under warranty. Obviously I need to ride it under several weather/humidity conditions but I will say the 'B' revision is definitely different. When you energize the bike the speedo does a full needle sweep while the fuel pump builds pressure. I also think the battery warning light is larger, and everything looks brighter.... although maybe my original glass had stains from the 'fogging' and this one is brighter just because it's new.
Note, my original dealership folded. The first dealership I asked to process a warranty claim turned me down. San Jacinto HD said they would submit my photo of the fogged speedo to HD for approval and they got it for me. If and when it fogs I will add that fact to this thread. If it doesn't fog at all in the next few months I will also post a note about it. Fingers crossed....

Glad to hear SJHD took care of you as they did me. Its almost 2 months for me and no fogging here along the coast.

Then again, guys ...hate to say it, but my speedo was clear for about the first year I had my 2020. I remember thinking "what's up with these speedo fogging issues I'm reading about?" Then about a month later, mine started doing it and hasn't stopped. My new one is scheduled to arrive late November.

You see? You jinxed yourself by asking that question.
