Default Cable extension advice

Hi
I m doing ape hanger on my deluxe 2018. I feed the cables though and they just making to come out of the handlebar. Instead of leaving the joint just in between the risers what I m thinking is to cut the stock close to grip side and extend them inside the handlebar. Than I can use the stock adapters to plug in.
my question is can we buy these cables from auto shops and extend or we need to buy those extension kits as they got special cables?
I got throttle digital cable as along with lights , indicator and turn on off switch
thanks

If you wanted to you could check with HD and see what length of wire comes with new switches. If long enough all that would be required would be to put the correct connector on the end and job done.

On the other hand you could go to an auto store and buy the wire colours needed to match and splice a length on as you describe but make it long enough to reach where the connector is and put on the required plug.

There is nothing special about extension wires only that someone has crimped on the required pin and socket for you. A crimping tool for a one off job is not expensive and neither is the pins and housings.

Have a look at the wires already on the bike. Some have the AWG written on them.

If you bike has CAN then 20 should be good enough for the switch controls.
