Battery Tender

Do I need to use a HD battery maintainer on a factory installed tender? I have a battery maintainer that is not HD and it won't charge the battery when I plug the charger into the factory installed tender.

Nope you can use any battery tender you want. However, you may want to check your fuses to see if one is blown.

I use the one from cycle gear. Works great for around $35

What year is your bike?
Older tenders have an in-line fuse in the pigtail.
Newer bikes have their own fuse in the fusebox.
Either way, check the fuse.

I just picked one of these up from J&P and is worth every penny!!
I have about ten different outfits that sit all winter and don't care to have a tender on all of them so I rotate three tenders and use this handy little device to check to see where the tender is needed next,
