V&H FP4 tuner?
I had an FP3 and it was great, but that's not the case here with the FP4.
I ended up going with a power vision 4 from fuelmoto, and it's been good. No bugs, no connection issues, etc. Just works. The one reason I think the PV-4 is a better option is it allows you to use and edit powervision maps to a greater extent on your computer, then send it to the cloud to flash to your bike. This is a really cool feature if you decide you want to have the bike dyno tuned, the tuner can use the dynojet software to do it. I found that between dynojet's website and fuelmoto, they also have substantially more maps available.
I've been pretty proactive about this topic when I see it. I am biased as I ended up stuck in a parking lot due to the VH FP4, when I called I was on a 40 MINUTE wait, when I finally got someone they basically told me they know it doesn't work right, said there was nothing they could do, and recommended I call a tow to get the bike to Harley, and see if I could mail them my ECU to reflash. It was a 3 hour ordeal where (on my own with no thanks to their support) I was finally able to have someone bring me an android phone and somehow got the bike into limp mode to get it back home.
I also notice that VH has a lot of similar issues and hate from other users that gets posted to their IG, but they keep deleting the comments.

did you guys read my post?
these guys are working the new 117 motor and they're constantly updating and growing their database. they are still working on cracking these ECU's and are currently "Locked out of the idle RPM at the moment. We are still trying to get the FP4/app to 'inject' that information properly without scrambling any other parts of the map."
give it some time...they have great support via email and then once everything is rolling, you can easily upload & download maps to them directly, and/or make tweaks like they did mine.
also, to the "go PV if you want a cam" argument...FP4's will be able to handle cam's.
directly from V&H, when I asked about cam support:
"That won't be for another 5-6 months from now. We still need to work on completing Stage 1 maps with systems other than our own. Then we'll crack into Stage 2 cam upgrades. We will most likely do Screamin Eagle cams first since they are the most popular. Before you purchase or make plans on installing a cam, give us a call/email. Make sure we have a map for what you are going to install."

They shouldn't have released a product that wasn't ready. That's exactly what they did. These weren't "bugs" they discovered, they were outright features and basic functionality that they knew didn't work out the gate when they released the product. They even had to go back AFTER weeks of complaints from both customers and vendors and change their product info to state autotune and other features would not work if you are on an IOS device.
As far as maps, they could have (at any point) offered people free FP4s and a dyno tune, in exchange for creating a map, to those offering to bring their bikes in. They didn't want to do this. Instead they stated they were waiting to buy a new motorcycle to put their own exhausts on. When I had asked them for an estimate of when to expect a few maps, or if they were planning on releasing any maps with third party exhausts, their response was that they were only going to release maps with Vance and Hines exhausts. This really angered me as it wasn't like the with the FP3, they had a few maps for Bassani, Two Bros, etc....so not sure why this stance with the FP4.
My animosity is not directed at you.. it's at the company.. It's a $450 product. I don't think people should "have patience" while they wait for a product they paid $450 to work.
And don't get me wrong.. I'll praise the FP3 all night and day. But with the FP4 they blatantly knew it had major problems and functionality issues but decided to move forward and release it anyway, and when they did, they could have taken many steps differently.

far enough where I was comfortable buying one. I was told by 2 online resellers that the FP4 would not work on my 12-FB. Yet in other places online it stated yes it did. So I called V&H and asked "will the FP4 work on my bike"
I was told "i dont think so" by the young voice on the other end. In fairness He did claim not to know much of the latest details and that he was the only one around at that time to talk to. He told me to call J&P and ask them. J&P states it did work on a 12-FB so I bought one. Turns out that from what I'm reading that I may just be lucky having an older bike and an android phone. But I don't believe the product should have ever been released before it was "as advertised". And I'm sure more people use iPhone than androids...but I could be wrong. I would be pissed if I did have an iPhone and needed to ask to borrow someone's android to load unknown info on...and then have to borrow it each time I wanted to use the product freely at my convenience. I will ride the new map for the first time tonight and hope I don't trigger limp mode. I wonder if a 2012 even has limp mode🤪
I followed his advice.
Installed Thundramx and S&S 475 cam.
No problems, only satisfaction.
either way, I'm currently satisfied as well.
btw, for you FP4 guys, contact Mathew directly...he's been fantastic and quick getting back to me: mathew.magana@vanceandhines.com
"Hello,
The map that I set up will be better than the canned maps that we add later down the road. Just because I fixed your specific problem for your specific bike.
We tend to play it safe on the canned maps so that it works on all bikes. We do not hold back power, but we definitely don't push the motor to its limits. We try to balance everyday usefulness/longevity and an aggressive riding style. If you want a hot rod tune and push the motor to its limits, we assume you would get the bike dyno tuned and not go the Fuelpak route.
Power Vision is definitely the more common device for dyno tuning since their interface uses a laptop/computer. Versus the FP3/FP4 that uses the phone app only. We dyno in house with the Fuelpak, and I can definitely see why/where dyno techs, that aren't used to Fuelpaks, can be frustrated. But it's strictly preference and word of mouth. Both tuners do the same thing, but have different 'routes' to get to the desired destination."

Need to get out of this situation and eat **** on this whole deal. And hints about getting through the app crashes? I tried clearing cache but it didnt help. Im getting messages such as "FP4 keeps closing" and "App has bug and keeps closing try clearing cache and try again".
Nothing working.

have you tried creating out of the app or restarting the phone?
If youre on an android device maybe someone with an iPhone can help you out, or vice versa if youre using an iPhone?
