Default seat screw base when switching two up to single

Probably a Noob question, but when switching from a two up to single seat, what do you do with the screw base where the two up normally is? do they make some kind of retainer to make sure it does not fall out?

I put a rubber O-ring on the threads, and when it isn't holding the 2-up seat, it goes back into the nut on the rear fender.
The O-ring makes it not vibrate loose.
That, or I put it in the windshield bag so I can search for it for an hour the next time I swap seats.

I added fender bib & used black screw to secure...there are a multitude of options - just use your imagination.

I just put the screw back in so I don't lose it.

Are you talking about the metal, threaded, female side? It's attached to the fender by a plastic E-clip and won't fall off.

Yes the female side going through fender. Am worried about accidently putting pressure on it and falling out. Figured there has to be some kind of protective cover.

There is, its the screw. Or you can remove the whole thing and get the Harley plastic insert. But if your going back and forth I would use the thumb screw.

Harley makes a flat plastic emblem you can push into the female part. Only costs a couple of bucks. Most dealerships stock them
