[QUOTE=Feileod;20593072]Quick how to, I wanted my Aux pod lights on my 2020 FXLRS to use the OEM switch. Here is how I did it.

All left switch controls, including the cruise control version, have the aux light button. When you remove the left turn signal switch cap you will see it to the right.

The Aux light function is already enabled and does not require a trip to the dealer to program. However; the wiring is incomplete. You will see there are four wires on the female connector side and only three on the male connector side. The Blue wire with the Black stripe is the Aux light power. You will need to connect to this wire to power your Aux lights.

Once you have your lights wired up you can either modify your existing turn signal switch cap or purchase the Heritage classic switch cap from the dealer.

Un-modified cap

Heritage cap

This is probably a dumb question but after I pin the other side of the connector what do I wire the auxiliary lights to, is there an empty plug/harness somewhere on the bike?

That new wire on the other side of the connector is the + signal for the auxiliary light. I don't know how much current that wire can handle but you would either run that new wire directly to the + terminal on your auxiliary light or to a relay. The - terminal of the auxiliary light can either be grounded to the frame or to the - terminal on the battery

There is two sockets to connect the wires in the plug. You run a wire to power each light separate.

I had been wondering about that.
I had gotten the extended caps for my fat bob and occasionally my thumb hits the extended part from the back(essentially pushing in the aux light you mentioned) and triggers it. I’d then see the fog lamp symbol on my gauge.

Good info. May look into putting some lights on the crash bar. 👍

Talk to me about that switch that looks like it is for garage door opener.

Is that a stock feature or something that you added?

My newest bike is a 2018 so sorry if this is a dumb question but I have not seen that before and it sure looks handy

Just fyi, HD makes a garage door opener that you just plug into your diag port. Can program two doors. It works through your brights. Long press to open one door, quick double press to open another.
I have it and have no issues.

Just an FYI:
When I added my Clearwater Valkyrie auxiliary lights to my 2023 FXLR-ST I had to purchase a left handlebar switch pack for a Heritage model because my oem left handlebar switch pack did not have the aux light switch. In fact, there are 3 separate switch packs for 2023softails:
  • 71500470
  • 71500288
  • 71500292 (has aux switch)
The switch cap with the left turn & fog light labels is part # 71500471.
